The Republicans need to stop trying to be Ronald Reagan. He was born well over 100 years ago, has been dead for over a decade and has not been President in nearly 30 years. Reagan was President during a very different time in American history, and with an America that was very different than it is right now.
Not sure if the GOP candidates are trying to be like Reagan. As has been pointed out, they certainly don't act like Reagan in many respects. Mostly, they just invoke Reagan's name a lot.
the guy that granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants? the guy who tripled the national debt? the guy who illegally sold weapons to iran and used the profits from those sales to fund terrorism in latin america? the guy who supported the saddam hussein regime? the guy who armed and supported muslim extremists in afghanistan who eventually morphed into al qaeda? that guy???
That was one of the more painful interviews I've seen. Did you notice the sounds of only crickets when he walked out and when it was over? No applause whatsoever. It was sad.
Ronald Reagan, former actor, very likable, great speaking and presentation skills, despite his political positions seemed to care about people, and all this attracted people across the political divide. Ted Cruz? Seriously? He can "try to be like the guy that won two landslide elections" all he wants, but you can't honestly describe Cruz with any of the above...
Cruz is a mix & mash of a late night male erectile dysfunction infomercial and a 24/7 religious television personality. Just not very organic.
Trump was much better on Colbert than Cruz. I swear he was almost likeable. No question, totally unfit for public office, but likeable.
The guy who raised taxes. The guy who bailed out a US car company. The guy who bombed Libya without congressional approval. Reagan today probably couldn't make it out of the Republican primary.
Not sure I agree that he wouldn't make it out of the primaries. In his later years Reagan suffered from dementia. This would appeal to the GOP base. (yep, I went there)
the gop is throwing trump out there in the lead. and foxnews and the establishment if freaking the f*** out. sometimes it would be harder to write a more unique and complex script about that weird political party they've got going.
**** Reagan. The man who made trillion dollar debts an everyday thing (hw bush tax hike what?) The man who killed the momentum for cleaner air, water and land. The man who presided the war on drugs primarily against black communities. The man who first capitulated (criminally?) against the terror state commonly known as Iran just to humiliate the president before him. The 80s was a festering ****hole for those who remember it. Maybe Reagan provided optimism but the things he did to American society weren't lasting solutions but rather credit for the effort of trying. Greed is good b****es.
Cruz calls out Feinstein for blocking a bill recognizing a Chinese political prisoner she can't defend her actions and just leaves <iframe width="754" height="468" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IxXQyjW7StA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Grandstanding AND interfering with The President and State. It's political theater that screws up more than it could help, as per usual. Obama to host China's President Xi amid simmering tensions http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/25/us-usa-china-idUSKCN0RO2HQ20150925
Is Jeb Bush running for the White Nationalist nomination or the Republican nomination? Looks like he could go either way.
Besides his confidence and positive message, I admire Trump for calling out Dubya. Starts around 7:32.
