So, the self-proclaimed, hard-times realists must defend themselves now...starting with Clutch. I'm not joking. This is rabid fan vs rabid fan!! dammit! Let's do it! Give it to us. Don't blow up at our positivist asses then leave us with out of context reponses to selected quotes, and a well timed trade rumor to distract us. My response is that the backseat freaking coaches who snipe at singular plays (like davo says he tries best not to do) that "really blows up my ass". The positivists are as Rabid as anyone. In fact, we can easily have more negativism than you guys, if we let it out. But we choose not to blow it towards the Francis fantasy heads who think everything should be run through a 23 yr old skip hopper who can do no wrong in some kind of statistical sunshine land while they dreamcast blockbuster trades and bash the team's current trade fodder. Are we really just Francis and a wish for Shareef, Webber and Phil Jackson for christsakes. What kind of fan is THAT! bring it...baby...bring it. Don't be eFranBlinebury.com. Sorry that the dreamcasting hasn't happened, yet. But the Rockets are still our team...and there are still Rabid fans here that have patience. I really can't see why anyone is complaining about this game. These were the SPURS!!! They are going to be in the Western Conference Finals. On a night where our front court shot 10 of 40, we still had a chance to win the game on the last shot. If that isn't an improvement on the last two games, I don't what is. j ------------------
dang, another camp to join. This is too confusing, though. Eternal optimists are annoying (i.e. zecat) but the extreme side dark asses (i.e. zrb) are just as bad. Hmmm... I'll try to stick to being a realistic ass w/ a twist of positivism just to make it through the day. ------------------

How much real estate are we talking here, Raven? Nevermind....bad question! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Your right, HOOP. Let's put it behind us. Ba dum pa. ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Homer Simpson
You know I just originally came into this thread because it had a cool name! Now that I'm in here I don't know what the hell heypartner is saying, so I'll add something! In my opinion the Spurs are the best team in basketball. They are deep, have some athleticism, have size, can score, can run, play a half court game and have championship experience. Anything short of a trip to the WCF would be a disappointment I believe to the former world champions. Folks we almost BEAT them! Drop some extra low post scoring and we're at least a notch below them (A 4 seed through 6 seed), so this game was a good learning experience and something to build on. ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .
Why is it everytime I go away for a few days things start getting really weird around here?? ------------------ "Clinton lied. A man might forget where he parks or where he lives, but he never forgets oral sex, no matter how bad it is." -- Barbara Bush
so, I guess you guys don't keep up with the BBS Hot Topic...lol. That's where you'll find Clutch drawing the line in the sand between blinded sunshine asses and fitful negative asses. damn if I can't get that man behind the curtain into a jab session. You guys should have seen the 1st Draft of my post at 3:00 am. achebe, you must take a side, so you can be stereotyped. That's why Lynus302 never gets mentioned in other posts; he's too agreeable. So, I just thought of another camp to join: Smilies vs no Smilies. Should smilies be used to soften jabs, or are they gay, and we should never use them (screw the sensitive). I think I come down under the positivist camp. It doesn't bother me that we're not going to make the playoffs this year. (but at the same time, I have a big realist streak through me that allows me to make that previous statement) I'm realistic enough to believe that we're not great, that we probably won't land Webber, that this mystery trade everyone's been talking about is probably dead, and that we might not be making all the right personnel moves. At the same time, I'm positive enough not to care. I'm a fan. I have a right to root for my team purely based on the fact that they're my team. As a fan, I make it my right to criticize at times. I feel like I have a special connection to the players that non-Rocket fans can't have, much like I reserve the right to be hard on my little brother. (but I dare you to try) I also reserve the right to be shamefully biased when it comes to projecting my teams potential and direction. I enjoy watching this team lose a nail-biter to a better team. I know that it's a sign of greater times to come. It makes my week to see them win a blowout. I like to yell at them when they get blownout, cause I've seen them be so much more. So I don't know, you tell me... what camp am I in? The only camp I'm sure of is the smiley camp... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
I'm a post-impressionist realist with leanings toward positiveness. with smilies on top Seriously tho.. I've always wondered why I don't get responded to...I'm just TOO DAMN AGREEABLE!!! well, I'll just have to change that now won't I?? ------------------ You would have to pry the ball outta his hands with a crowbar. I agree. R2K, just in case you didn't kill this thread by participating in it, let me poison it for good by adding my opinion. heypartner, you're an ass. And I'm positive about it. <--where do you stand, is this gay? I'm a rabid fan but I've become more of a realist over the years just to save myself from the heavy depression that used to follow Rockets losses. When it comes down to it, I lean towards being a positive sunshine ass. I love this team and I've seen them much worse than they are now. If they can climb to the top from where I've seen them before, they can certainly get there again from here! Now, this doesn't mean I don't scream at every stupid move I see on the court and want to throw things at the TV and call for the firing of just about every guy that's worn a Rockets uni. Hell, I want them to win now too! I've even been tempted to jump into some of the thrashing threads on the BBS because I share the negative ass sentiment. But, when I cool my head and realize I don't have much to add to the multitudes of bashing posts (and there are plenty of them), I decide to save my 2 cents for the "patience, kemosabe" threads. ------------------
Rockets2K, you can probably start by saying you were the first "2K" and RocksMillenium, Francis2K, Rockets2000, LiftOf2000, Believe2000, Rocketman2000, finalsY2K, FaskBreak2K, Franchise2K etc can blow it out their 2000 asses....(all real monikers lol) that might get them to remember you in a sea of 2Ks. "Hell Yea!"
Someone once told Jim Rhome: If you enter a room and everyone says you're an *******, they probably like you. If you enter a room and no one says anything, they probably think your an *******. So, given your jab above, who do people probably like more, me or you ChrisP? I don't see anyone calling you an ******* hmmmm...since calling someone an ******* might be a friendly gesture, do you think the monikor heyasshole is more friendly than heypartner. I'd have to say the latter is definitely gay-er than the former? [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited February 05, 2001).]
I don't see anyone calling me anything. That's probably because I'm TOO DAMN AGREEABLE! I figure there's enough cantankerous folks like yourself on the board that we need some level headed, agreeable gents like me and Rockets2K. I'm just doing my part to keep things cool. Ah, who am I kidding - I just want to be liked. heyasshole friendlier than heypartner? I dunno man, that's a little "out there". But... if the shoe fits... ------------------
I am pretty sure Duncan was 23 and in his second year when he led the Spurs to a title. Kobe is 23 too. I think that Steve is playing well beyond his years, and the Rockets should be a much better team than they are. As for the Spurs, they were missing two starters, and should not be considered the BEST team right now. Not until they are healthy. Still, despite the disappointing outcome, and the many mistakes made by our scout-turned-coach, I am happy with Saturday's game. The Rockets played hard on defense, and that is ALL that matters. As for the sunshine blowers, please don't try to be positive after back-to-back 17 point home losses to the lowly Clippers and Miami Heat. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
