    Hinch must go

I said a loooong time ago we can't pitch to Valencia, and hitting behind him is Lawrie, so we DON'T HAVE TO PITCH TO THE GUY. Well, Hinch is a macho man and is going to pitch to the guy. WELL, 2 HOMERS in the game, and ANOTHER LOSS.

And of course, 1 run game. Like i said many many times, when you lose 1 run games, the manager will decide the game with decisions.
    Bullpen gave the game, AGAIN.
We had 2 great arms in VV and Feliz but they are only used in mop up situations. Well, another Hinch decision.

The team is playing awful, but the manager is not helping much.

I am not a Carter fan, but the guy is hitting lately, why pinch hit for him???? Why not pinch hit for Gattis?????

Marisnick got a single, hitting like crazy in past 30 games, probably he will not play tomorrow, lets see.

Well, enough time spend for this team, let the police forum members tell us how great Hinch and the team are.

    4 and 12, ouch

Right now looking at 84-78 record. If we continue the way we are playing, we may not play .500 for the year.

It would be funny if we end up 81 and 81, as i said this team was playing average for 3 months, and many here attacked me. Well my friends, looks like we are going to end up playing UNDER .500 for the last 4 months of the season. This team was good only for 1 1/2.

Lets hope next year we have a better bullpen, a real closer and move Gregerson to the 8th, where he belongs, and maybe the closer will be VV or Feliz.

Right now the expectations are we are going to lose, the surprise would be a win.

Before the season started i said this team was going to play .500, wining 81 or 82 games.
Right now i want that, if we get to the playoffs, that would be a NICE SURPRISE, but the reality is i don't expect them to do it.
I only wish they can as least play .500 and make real changes this offseason.

We have one major question this offseason because we gave a lot of talent, plus he is young, but is Gattis a great hitting catcher or a bad DH?

What is the strong part in our team? Offense? No. Relievers? No

    STARTING ROTATION

I was raised watching rotations with Ryan, Scott, Deshaies, Niekro, Forsch, Richards, Knepper with 1 great reliever Smith, Wagner or Dave Smith.

So, i am bias here, but i love starters going deep.

Why did we take Kazmir after only 93 pitches when he was dominating? Why take Fiers while he was dominating? He had a whip of 1 which is very good.

What is wrong with Hinch? He knows he does not have Gregerson, why take Fiers after 99? Let him start the next inning.

LET THE STARTERS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSES, AND NOT THE RELIEVERS.

I am tired of watching relievers lose games, when our BEST options are the starters.

I think we should allow starters to pitch into the 105-110 count. If that means a 6 man rotation, bring another one, BUT OUR STARTERS NEED TO GO DEEP.

THE ONLY GREAT THING we have is STARTING ROTATION, why we don't let them go deep? Only 6 innings for Fiers when he was pitching very good??? For what? For Harris and Neshek???

If our bullpen was Herrera/Davis/Holland, well, you go 6, but when is Harris/Neshek and Qualls you go 7.

Well, at least there the Astros have the power to do something about it in the head to head.

Of course, they need to just start winning again period.

We are 5 and 12 so far this month, we need a winning streak of 3 or 4 games. Lets hope and see a 9 and 12 record in the near future.

I am confused. At around 8:15 PM Saturday night you said the Astros were 4-13 this month, yet at 10:24 PM Saturday night you said they were 5-12. Which was it?

10 Degrees: Playoff possibilities could be a picture of pure chaos

Pretty sure the Astros were all-but-guaranteed to open the playoffs on the road, even before the Arlington Annihilation.

I would actually take a WC playoff game and ALDS in KC vs. an ALDS in Toronto. KC doesn't have a starting pitcher with Price's stuff... and given how the Astros have faired against lefties this month, that's probably the absolute worst matchup for this lineup.

I agree about the easier path right now being the Wild Card game vs. NY then on to KC but Toronto might catch KC for the #1 seed.

Well, before you can play KC, there's the little issue of beating the Yankees in New York in a winner-take-all game in which you're almost certainly going to exhaust Kuechel...

I 100% agree I'd prefer KC to Toronto (accepting all the "careful what you ask" for components...). But teams aside, I'd much rather guarantee a series than have to earn it with a play-in game. And, teams aside again, if the Astros are going to take us on this roller-coaster September and eventually prevail, I'd much rather the postseason last 3 games than 1.

Yes. I accounted for that. Maybe it will go just like the last time Keuchel pitched in Yankee stadium!

Other than possibly burning your ace in the wild card game (which doesn't necessarily rule him out for game 3 or 5 of the LDS), I would just look at it as the 3rd game of a regular season series, to be followed by another series.... and that one game does get a bit of the "jitters" out of the way (not that you'd prefer that, but once you get past it... you could even make a case that the WC play-in winner is at a slight advantage).

Hell, it wasn't too long ago when people were making the argument of WC teams being "sharper/more focused" going into the playoffs, as they had just come off weeks of playing high-pressure games (whereas the division winners may have had things sewed up long before).

Even with the added burden of an extra game, the wild card teams continued that "mythical advantage" last year.

Of course with this team, any road game is going to be a disaster till proven otherwise.... so there's always that.

Just playing Devils Advocate, but if we had to use Kuechel on the WC game, we would get him at home against (in G3) as opposed to on the road (G1).
