There's a reason Flacco and Eli Manning are among the highest players in the NFL. Because its impossible to get a QB in this league. We shouldn't have unceremoniously ran off Schaub until we had a capable replacement, and so far I don't see it.
Have to give Mallet at least 8 games. If we lose to Tampa I hope we go 1-15 and draft a good QB. Defense is ready
he lost it. post traumatic pick six syndrome. savage will be the next guy b.o.b is comfortable with. sucks he got hurt. 2 seasons in a row now.
So for those that kept saying last year's QB class hasn't shown anything? How was today? Bortles, TB, and Carr all did things that Mallett has yet to do. When you have that many QBs going in the first 2 rounds of a draft…and your team is in desperate need of a QB…you NEED to take the one you think has the most potential. The "OB didn't like any of them" talk is silly…he SHOULD have figured he could turn one of them into a QB that could run an offense. No way you have that much talent at one position and think that none of them are good enough, then proceed to bring in Brian Hoyer. I'd give Mallett and Hoyer and Savage up for just one opportunity with any of the QBs in the 2014 class that were taken in the first couple rounds. OB has one more year to figure this out. Hopefully starts with the Texans giving up a host of draft picks to move ahead and get Cook in the draft.
Dang it red you just can't let that argument go huh. Ok we all have heard you, now can we move past the who we didn't draft rant. Those qbs have actual a full year of nfl playing time under their belt while Mallett only has what 3 games. I don't like this situation either but man did you not see that make shift offensive line we had. Neither one of those QB'S you mentioned who have played well behind that **** red. Plus no freaking running game. Lol
Very true, Mallett hasn't ever been bailed out by a RB getting 130+ yards before. We're all proud of Teddy for managing to hand the ball off.
Oh really? Lets remind you of the Cleveland game where the Texans rushed 40 times for 200+ yards. lol.
All three of those guys have had more game experience than Mallett has...yea Mallett has been in the league a lot longer, but all of those guys played essentially all of last season. This was Mallett's 3rd start ever.. Barring injuries, I think BOB rolls with Mallett the rest of the season. The mistakes Mallett makes results most of the time in incompletions...the mistakes Hoyer make result in certain picks/fumbles...
Oh well then, you're wrong, Bridgewater didn't do anything that Mallett hadn't done before unless you mean start a game at QB and almost never be asked to throw the ball. He hasn't had those training wheels on him before. Maybe we'll get to look forward to that next week.
There are zero issues on my end with us acquiring and trying out Mallett. I just don't like putting all eggs in one basket (unless you consider signing Hoyer another basket). When it comes to the QB position, it's important to give yourself a solid couple chances every year to find someone that can stick at the position. It truly is THAT important. Without it, you have no chance in this league.
Wait, hold up…you just stated that Mallett has never had the chance/help to hand it off to someone for 135 yards. And I just showed you how wrong you were. But then you change the direction of the conversation to something unrelated. Again, Im going to take it that you didn't watch the Vikings game. If you think AP is the reason TB played well today, you are way off base. Just stop.
18 pass attempts, tell me again how much Teddy did. I'm sure he did a good job managing the game and handing the ball off and completing a high percentage of the few times he was asked to pass the ball, but don't compare that training wheels BS to QB's that had real workloads or ridiculous workloads like Mallett did.
Mallett had more help with RBs against Cleveland, than TB did today. You were wrong…just admit it and move on. And who cares how many pass attempts TB had? Minnesota, thanks in large part to Teddy, had enough of a lead where they basically just ran the clock out. If Minnesota was in need of passing, TB could have easily done that…after all, it was his efficiency that got them the lead to begin with. And if you're looking for pass attempts, then refer to the last half of 2014…with no AP. TB not only passed a ton, but he also completed many of them while basically throwing a 2:1 TD:INT ratio. Keep bringing up how much he sucks though…lol.
I have no reason to support TB…I just find it amusing that you repeatedly say he sucks…when he's actually had a handful of games where he was awesome (and even a few games of 40+ attempts, since you like to judge QBs by passes attempted). If anything, I wanted Carr with our 2nd round pick.
And the Texans won that game and it was Mallet's best day as a pro. Isn't that kind of the point? Mallet is clearly not good enough to do it without a running game or decent offensive line. But maybe he can be decent if the Texans get healthier? At this point it doesn't look promising but I don't see a "gotcha" in your Cleveland reference.
Mallet put up a 57 QB Rating and completed under 50% of his passes. He didn't realize intentional grounding existed. He's awesome. Bridgewater completed 64% last year and over 70% this year. His career QBRating is in the 80s. He sucks. I've never been a Bridgewater fanboy but he's far better than 5th year Mallet, as are most of the young QBs around the league.
