Of course a 2nd round pick from last year's draft is prefrerable a guy who was dumped for a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. We took XSF instead of Jimmy G. Too early to tell if it was the right choice, but Jimmy G has looked good and XSF has looked bad in pass protection.

Of course I will. I thought Hoyer would win the job, that doesn't mean I was in love with Hoyer the QB. I'm on board with what Bob is doing so far.
He's actually bound to benefit from the development time. Virtually all young QB's are. Unfortunatley, too many NFL teams attempt to go into "win now" mode and don't prepare their young QB's accordingly (and often rush them into an unfavorable situation). I don't prescribe to this "ruining" them... but the early exposure and experience doesn't show to lead to future success as much as it does in other sports. So, on paper... I'd rather have Jimmy G in year 3 over rookie Jimmy G. Just like we're about to figure out what Mallett is this Sunday, after his development period.
Did I say that? Of course he knows the difference but you can't judge decision making under pressure in practice period. Just like no matter how hard they try to simulate an away game in practice they can't. That's all I meant. Hoyer's main knock is how he performs getting pressured so his main knock can't be evaluated really through practice.
Yes, that part is obvious, that a rookie Jimmy G is not as good as a Jimmy G that has studied the game for a few years. My point is that 3 years from now, if we are trying to get Jimmy G, then we have ****ed up big time, because that would mean that we have yet to address the position.
Who said anything about 3 years from now? I said the trade could/would/should happen "this" off-season if Mallett flames out (and there isn't much value/potential in the draft where the Texans are picking). It would be year 3 of Jimmy G's career.
Why do y'all continue to go back and forth about who we should have drafted. If the Texans wanted said player, they would have done what's necessary to get player X. They didn't want that particular player so let's move on and talk about the players we do have. Let's hope Mallett turns out to be the quarterback we all desire.
So in your world, nobody ever "misses out" on a player because if they didn't draft them, it means they never wanted him? Ok.

Like some have stated...he has a lot more upside the Brian. Hoyer tapped out last week as far as I'm concerned.
I'm a Hoyer fan too, but of course I will be happy and give Mallett props if he wins. I said I thought Nate Washington was a pretty mediocre player, and last game every time he got a catch a friend of mine was all "ooh-aah"ing in my face like I was angry or something? I've never understood why some people think it's more important to be right then for the team to do well.
