So the most active discussion for the Texans in week 2 Friday is about a guy who did not play a snap in the opener and expected to be the 53rd man on the roster,

and then we traded him for a chance to move up for about 8-10 spots in the 5-6th round of next year's draft.

That alone tells you how exciting this season will be.

you're right in that one innocuous comment I made got strewn out into much more than it's original intent was meant to be. I also see your point and rek's regarding Worthy. I don't see rek's point that it was "good value". But I do get your point that this could have been planned for awhile and is much more savvy than I give it credit for.

But to me it's like polishing a scratch in a car that is totaled and saying - look what I did.

Actually the most active discussion is the QB switch.

Yeah but for the most part everyone agrees with that move so there's not much of a dissenting view. It's really just a lot of "He should have started Mallett from the start" except for one notable Hoyer fan.

That's actually a sign of a healthy fan base... and active section of the board.

Unlike what's happening with the Astros right now.

I agree that there are holes on the roster, salary mismanagement, poor scouting, bungling the QB situation, etc...

That's all true, but really has nothing to do with this specific situation. If anything, this was a good move because, rather than cutting Martin outright, they had a sense of his trade value and were able to dish him off for something, one week into the season. I dont think they had any intention of keeping him on the 53 man roster if they didnt think they could trade him. Sure, maybe the Martin pick didnt work out like they initially planned years ago...but at least they were able to salvage something for him. And in the end Worthy makes the roster...someone that many people here wanted to be on the team instead of KM.

That's all there is to it...no need to go into all sorts of other situations where the team has failed. This is an example of a failure from a previous regime getting turned into a positive for the current regime.

I'm with you completely. I'm not going to crow about this move at all. I'm "optimistic" about OBrien the head coach, but the organization still hasn't shown it can hit doubles/triples in the draft.

au contraire. I've read enough posts that imply the move was too early and they should have given Hoyer a longer leash. And since Bobby is on here, Fitzpatrick's name comes up a few times.

Well those who think Hoyer should have had a greater leash should probably be on an ignore list because that's just embarrassingly foolish. Letting Hoyer throw yet another game away is not what the Texans need.

I'm really surprised no one has brought up the very real possibility that the Pats will cut him in the next couple of weeks, after they've gleaned all they need to from him. (Not like the Pats really need in-depth info on the Texans offense or defense in order to destroy the Texans in week 14 or whatever week the game is).

Brady can make any WR look good. Even AJ can go over there and probably still look like an NFL WR.

Still don't regret getting rid of him.
