Trump is primarily invested in Real Estate, but was able to come out just fine from the recession. Bankruptcy doesn't necessarily indicate failure. Knowing when to declare bankruptcy and when not to is more important from a business perspective.
Um, let's be clear. Bankruptcy absolutely indicates failure. You failed to accomplish your goals and you declare bankruptcy to keep the creditors out of the pockets and reorganize. But if all goes successfully you don't declare bankruptcy. Nobody ever said, "Everything is going perfect, let's declare bankruptcy!"
Wow... PR at HP was always a challenge but it had to be murder under Apotheker. I was at Cisco at the time and we had a field day messaging against HP. So odd HP didn't do more vetting (any vetting?) of him, since it was well know he failed at SAP and HP was roasted at the time of the announcement. he had no clue how to run an enterprise technology company. I was at Compaq/HP from 2000 to 2005. The early years were fun... Capellas had a rock star image and was liked by customers as "one of them". Really visible within the company; he'd sit next to you in the cafeteria and in meetings. Carly was the exact opposite. One day soon after the merger they had us line the company halls to give Carly a "big Texas Howdy" (barf) as she (surrounded by handlers) walked the hallways like royalty.
