Honest question... Do you think they're good enough right now?

And how good did you expect them to be this season?

I agree, nothing is guaranteed. I've been told the rule 5 draft could be a killer this year, so there's that.

i have no idea what that means.

i know they were good enough to be in first place for 130 games or so this season. so yeah...close that mother effer out if you don't want to be remembered as colossal chokers.

DO NOT GIVE ME THE WHOLE WHAT DID YOU EXPECT OF THEM IN MARCH BS!!! i effing hate that. March was 6 months ago. Yeah...things change. My expectation was entirely changed by them being in first for the overwhelming majority of the season.

they were 8 games up...they blew it. they blew it. stop telling me about formulas that they're really better..they betray your whole argument that i shouldn't think they're all that good to begin with. please stop.

Relax, I'm on your side. There are people actually trying to rationalize them going 9-28 on the road with formulas.

Also, Max.... You're living proof that nobody can ever get fully conditioned to the pain of being a Houston sports fan.

This year was wide open. Why I am unbelievably mad the Astros did not address the firstbase problem. I know for a fact that Adam Lind was available and discussed with the Astros but they worried about payroll taking on K Rod as well. They thought they would get Alonso from the Padres in a large deal... But the Cubs and Yankees figured out the Padres were not moving anyone.

Imagine KRod and Lind on this team? Hell any average first baseman even.

Ask the Cubs from 10 years ago how that dynasty turned out... The Nats now..

i'm not remotely conditioned...it sucks. the older i get the worse it gets. i'd like to see this team win a ring..just once. i almost need to see it.

and yeah yeah yeah..one team wins a ring each year..."if your expectation is championship you're gonna be disappointed!!"

but over 50 effing years you expect you might win ONE!!!! ONE!!!! it's a joke. and the fact that anyone blames the fans in Houston for not being all in all the time is laughable.

Hinch sucks and this caravan of 220 hitters that cannot make contact suck. Cannot wait until Gattis, Carter, Valbuena and even Rasmus are gone. Just too many of them... Hell they mark Springer look like Rod Carew.

people like tenkelis think you're a troll and a crazy guy if you say anything negative about the astros.

THEY BLEW IT! Thats the plain and simple fact. Stop with this bs that they werent expected to be in first or w/e. THEY WERE!

first thing you do is fire hinch, he has ZERO ZERO fire under him. He manages like this is a veteran world series team. Its a young scrappy team and their manager doesnt reflect it. Give me a phil garner ANYDAY.

    Agreed.

This year was/is wide open (although the Blue Jays look far and away the better team). After they made the deadline trades, there was absolutely no reason not to try and make this the best possible team. I still don't understand the full rationale about worrying about a player's arbitration years 5 years from now (hell... if they're good you're going to try and lock them up long term anyways, and if your team isn't good by then... you're going to trade them).

However, even though they've been in first place for 130+ games... the great thing (or most painful thing) about baseball is the 162 game season should be the biggest equalizer. If you're not good enough at the end of 162, you weren't good enough. I don't care about how you were in a micocosm (or macrocosm) stretch of the season... where everything clicked. Things even out, things find its level... unless you're talking about the Astros on the road this season.
