Smith was actually really impressive to me that game. I think he's above the Dalton line.

Hoyer is like one of those guys in pick up basketball ball that looks really good just shooting around and looks like he can play but then once you pick him up on your team and you actually start playing a game he sucks it up completely

Alex Smith is significantly better than Andy Dalton.

I hope Bill O'Brien makes coaching decisions based on your metaphor.

Does Bill O'Brien really know what he is doing?

    Nope, not at all.

He faked his resume and never coached for New England or Penn State.

I have always thought Alex Smith has gotten a bad rap when it comes to being a solid QB.

In his early years in SF they were basically changing OC's every year and thats not what you want to do when you have a QB you invested the first overall pick on.

He played pretty damn good the year SF lost to the Giants in the NFC championship game and he was amazing in the win vs the Saints in the divisional round.

He didn't deserve to lose his starting job but Harbaugh had drafted Kapernick so he wanted him to play sooner rather than later.

For the last 5 years he has been basically a 2 to 1 TD to INT QB and has an overall record in his career of 58-47 as a starter.

I think he would be thought of higher if he wasn't the first overall pick the year he came out, but that's not his fault and people forget he was really the first of the Urban Meyer QB's to hit the NFL.

I know as a Texan fan we want the next Manning, Luck of someone like that, but if we can't get one I would have no problem having a guy who plays smart like Alex Smith. He just wins games and protects the ball.
