Croatia once again prove that they are chokers with no guts and heart. (i mean their nt ofc). I hope the newer generation will slowly manage to get over this choking eventually.

So far group D surprised positively and group C played like crap.

I know what you mean. But in the group stages they didn't seem to play well for their standards/talent. Now in the first knockout they elevated their perfomance, as it was needed so good for them.

They were completely overhyped to me, but it's just my opinion. Would've never put them in contender tier.

These Euro teams could peak at the right time next year but it's looking like Father Time is the winner here. Canada might be Team USA's only competition at the Olympics next year.

lol. Lets see if Canada even makes it to the Olympics next year. They lost to Venezuela and to an ancient Argentina. Do you think they will make it out of the field of pre Olympic tournament that will have 7 european teams?

Zaza dominates against Valanciunas, making him look pathetic offensively&defensively

There will be 3 tournaments I think, so they'll likely avoid European teams, which will have to fight for one spot amongst themselves.

I don't think that's how it works. The spots are not determined by the geographical zone. Canada will have to fight against Euro teams to go and there will be at least 7 of them.

The pairs have been determined for the quarterfinals

    15/9
    Spain vs Greece 18:30 CET
    France vs Latvia 21:00 CET

    16/9
Serbia vs Czech Republic 18:30 CET
    Italy vs Lithuania 21:00 CET

All the pairs have an overwhelming favourite and upsets look very unlikely. The semi Spain vs France will be the most interesting next.

    yea right.
I watched every Greece game and it was horrible. They can't shoot at all as always and they can't guard Pau. They came undefeated in their group and in the next phase all the teams in group C were disqualified.

My only hope is whatever I post in this thread doesn't come true.

BTW Slovenia and Croatia coaches have resigned. Perasovic expected and rightfully so. Disgrace for them.

I like how you call out everyone that doesn't have the same favourite as you and act like they're dumb.

I looked it up now and I'm essentially right, although it's not exactly divided by continent.

You should double-check, Malakas is mostly right. The only American teams (America is a continent, damn it!) that have already qualified for the Olympics are USA, Argentina, Brazil (host) and Venezuela (which surprisingly won the FIBA Americas tournament). Canada will have to earn its ticket at the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, what you see in the link are the 3 American teams that qualified for said tournament, and they will have to go against teams from other regions.

No he isn't right. The pools will be divided and it will be three six-team tournaments, so there's no chance at all you'll be in a group full of Euro teams, let alone 7.

    You are correct.
The euro teams will be though at least 6.
I think Germany and Turkey will try hosting, and since they are the best teams left out they should awarded- and since they are willing to spend a lot of money.
Then we have Slovenia and Croatia also out.
There are three spots to get in. One will go to the loser of the trio Spain-Serbia-France for sure. So two spots for all the rest. If anyone thinks Canada can beat out Italy, Greece, Turkey , Germany then whatever. Scola had a tournament high facing that frontcourt.

Canada has a bright future and is very young team. But a frontcourt of Olynyk and Bennett and Corry Joseph as the only good guard doesn't scare anyone. If you put canada in the eurobasket there are good chances it would already be eliminated by now esp with the way they lost to Venezuela. They choked due to their inexperience.

Nonetheless I am happy to see how Canada's bball has grown and be embraced by more and more fans.

    Ich bin sichere.:)

Giannis missed the buzzer beater. He had a monster game(17 rebounds) But V-Span had a bad game and without him it's very difficult to win game for Greece.

Gasol having a GREAT tournament by the way. He is dominant all tournament long.

Giannis was amazing. Like TT sometimes in offensive rebounding and also shot threes. Im excited even with the loss.
Never expected to beat Spain ,not this generation. We are their "customers".
Let's see who retires now from the NT. For sure Bourousis. Maybe Zisis too.

Semi Spain- France at least gonna be great. I know who I'm gonna support.
