Fair enough. Either way, we've gone off topic for long enough, let's get back to being excited about tomorrow.
Texans might lose this game due injury. No Arian is bad enough. But now, no Mohamed or XSF Hopefully KC's o-line is in shambles as much as posters have mentioned. I expect Hoyer to be average, maybe a "6" under B.OB's tutelage. Our O needs to be effective enough to keep our D rested. Maybe they underestimate Cushing too, since he was re-ACL'd that game. Indeed
That's going to really hurt them, they were already suspect against the run, now they'll be missing their NT. I think they'd be better with him playing hurt than not playing at all.
Poe missed training camp after surgery for a herniated disc, but is probable for the season opener. Jeff Allen and Eric Fisher are questionable. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/red-zone/article34944387.html
Ah gotcha, that's what I was thinking. Missing him would be a huge blow, they're better off playing Poe not at 100% than they are going without him.
Im expecting a low scoring game, but you never know... both teams' OLines are going to be severely tested. That being said, they have an elite level RB in JC25...and he is a beast. The Texans have shown some poor RUN defense effort during preseason games, but then again, none of the real starters really played much. I expect our defense to create several turnovers, which may be the difference in a low scoring slugfest...Goals for the game: 1. limit Charles, 2. win the TO battle... 17-14 Houston
I think that's overselling Charles, calling him "elite" suggests that he's a top 5 or so RB in the league and that's just not the case. He may have been at that level 3 or 4 years ago, but unless he has a late career resurgence, if the Texans give up more than 70 or 80 yards to him they need to feel bad about themselves. No really good defense should give up any more than that to him. Charles isn't like going against someone like Adrian Peterson or Marshawn Lynch. That said I mostly agree with your goals, only I'd add one more. Limit Kelce, he's KC's most dangerous offensive weapon and we don't have the best coverage linebackers. That matchup will be huge IMO.
In what universe is Charles not elite? 5 ypc (3rd amongst qualifying RBs) and 14 TDs last season with a shaky OLine. Take into account that every team KNEW the Chiefs couldn't pass the ball, and that makes it even more impressive. Charles is easily a top 5 RB in the NFL, if not top 3.
In the world where Alfred Blue had as many 100+ yard games last season as Charles. Look, no one is saying that he's not good, but off the top of my head, Foster, Lynch, and Peterson are easily better backs. That's also not giving credit to guys like LeSean McCoy, Eddie Lacy, or Le'Veon Bell. Again, he's good, but if he gets more than 80 yards, the Texans' D screwed up.
Okay, but being top 10 in a league where not every team even has a starting caliber RB means what? Again, good, not elite. It's like arguing Ryan Tannehill is an elite QB. Good? Sure. Top 10? You could make an argument for it. Elite? Not even close.
I think there's an argument for Chaarles in top 5. All purpose yards plus TDs he's there. Tanehill is in a long list of average ish qbs
How many RBs had more TDs than Charles? Charles had a crappy OLine and no passing threat to help him out. You can't say that about Lynch, Lacy, or Bell. And Foster had the support of a great run blocking Oline, along with the help of AJ and Hopkins to keep the DBs back. Again, 5 ypc and 14 TDs…with no help at all. That springs him into the top 5, easy.
If Tannehill was 2nd amongst QBs in TDs, then he would be elite. However, he's not. On the other hand, I think only Lynch scored more TDs than Charles. Maybe someone else did as well…but that still makes Charles elite.
