I agree with you. The technical capability exists for these calls to be no-brainers. Yet, some are still missed.

An analogy comes to mind. If you were relying on guys to do math in their head, and then you gave them to a calculator, you would expect the math to be right, wouldn't we?

Sorry to other folks, but mere improvement in call capability isnt good enough when the infrastructure is in place to make them all correct.

At the very least, I'd hope Reed is at the point where he can provide enough consistency at the plate to replace Carter. I like Lowrie & Gattis - we don't need world beaters at every position. And I agree, we are playing with house money but playoff experience would be huge for this group.

This season shouldn't be surmised with "we're just happy to be here" or "we're playing with house money". Why? Because we gave up prospects. The fact we gave up potential future talent to win in the present Astros should, at minimum, win this subpar division. The fact TEX, without Darvish, is pushing us only adds to the embarrassment.

A team that for the majority of the season had a rotation with Lewis as number 2, Martin Perez number 3, Wandy number 4 and Chi Chi the golfer number 5, OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't feel they went "all in" at all... if so, they would have cut out all the dead weight from the active and 40 man roster.

They're a good team, but still a very young team that's in the process of learning what it takes to win consistently.

They didn't go "all in", just saying they "went in" enough to win this sorry division and they "went in" enough to not say, "we're just happy to be here".

The future is still bright regardless of this season's outcome. But this year isn't house money.

btw- cutting Carter (among others) and replacing them with prospects isn't going all in, it's simply the smart baseball move.

I don't think this team is anywhere close to saying "we're just happy to be here"... some fans may be taking that approach as it mentally may take the sting out of losing.

But the reality is, this team is still young... still raw... still learning how to win.. and this front office is still rigid in certain ways when it comes to winning "now".

If they do ultimately fail to make the playoffs, there will be plenty of questioning why they didn't promote certain guys and why they decided to keep certain guys.

True. Fans do have the freedom to lie to themselves.

I think the organization deserves some questioning, playoffs or not. The only way they avoid scrutiny is winning the WS because obvious moves weren't made. I'll graciously accept an ALCS loss with Carter though.

    Hey look, my stalker's back!

P.S. I'm told on pretty much a daily basis on Twitter about how excessively negative and harsh I am. To most people, that doesn't really mesh with "homer." You're special, though.

I would not use Conger here, he can't hit lefties.

This is a message board. You post and people respond, that's kind of how it works twitterati. Most people probably haven't read your posts for 15 years but mkay. But anyway, I'll stop responding as you obviously can't handle it. Good luck. Go 'Stros!

Only plays in Canadian games where they play Oh Canada instead of God Bless America.

And Stassi hasn't exactly shown in AAA that he can hit lefties either. I'll go with whoever the SP feels most comfortable with.

    Is Stassi's defense better?

He's already thrown out a runner IIRC.

What is it with major league players ? Sliding is a basic technique yet they continue to over slide and come off the bag
