Lack of Astros playoff experience "Clutch Hitting" when it matters on the road...especially in September. Games like this reminds me of the fact that they're trying to accomplish something they have zero business of accomplishing...and they still have a chance to do so in spite of the Madness
here's hoping the hooks get knocked out of the playoffs tomorrow. would love to hear them be forced to address still not bringing up reed when this team is clearly desperate for a shot in the arm as the division is dwindling away.
Will I continue to root them on and hope for the best? Absolutely. But I have lived through too many Houston sports teams' collapses and disappointments...I know better than to get too overly optimistic. I am going to enjoy the games and having a 20 yr old phenom and top 2-3 Starting pitcher on my team. We are legitimately in the thick of the race in September and that is all I could have hoped for before the season.
lol well I think "mental focus" tends to go a long ways...not only regarding Keuchel's error in the 2nd inning but it took the Astros 6 innings before they figured out how to hit Weaver...6 innings way too long to realize what they shoulda known by the 3d inning at the latest imo
Really hurts to lose the first game of the series with the Ace on the mound. I'll be at the game tomorrow and I am undefeated watching games this year on the West Coast (5-0) so just go ahead chalk this one up as a win guys
what a turd of the call by the umps. it's disappointing when there is conclusive evidence that he applied the tag. we'd still be playing right now. and how about that grounder that dallas fields 99.999999999% of the time. ugh, that's a baseball. Just got go out and give it all tonight.
With so many plays at the plate, you would assume you would have a camera view directly ABOVE the plate. It was pathetic that even after replay they allowed that run...Regardless, Keuchel has been starting games very slowly. 26 and 28 pitches in the 1st two innings was way too much... Everyone have faith, these kids are playing with a real pressure...its only gonna make them more battle tested...
Reality is more of they have a chance because other teams are worse, not because they are good. They've been average for so long, and now are awful in september losing to series to bad teams.
Since replay isn't flawless, damn it to Hell. Overhead cam is a good idea. Would have to be specially built because directly over home plate, or any base, is open sky.
The question is, why weren't those pictures available to the replay official? If they were, and the call still missed, why does he have a job? I was stunned when they called him safe, because when they slowed it down, there sure looked like dirt between his finger tips and the plate.
maybe since they're the halos, the umps enforced the 'sand is part of the plate' rule, section BS, paragraph 8s of the rule book. still upset. every pitch, swing and play is important to the outcome.
Your question(s) are more sensible than the one I addressed. Does replay mostly work? Yes Can replay be improved? Yes
When you've lost homer The Cat, you know things are getting ugly. Bahaha. Y'all are seriously freaking out. This offense was built as feast or famine and that's what we've seen. Honestly I feel we're playing with house money. I never anticipated we'd be in a playoff race so I'm just excited to have meaningful baseball again. The offense definitely needs to be addressed in the offseason though. Upgrades at 1B, DH, and 3B hopefully. Seeing Gattis hit third and Lowrie hit clean up sometimes is nuts.
