If we lose tomorrow, and good chance is going to happen, we will play .300 on september

Only way we win the division is if Rangers lose a lot of games because Astros will NOT WIN IT, Rangers have to lose it.

I don't see what the desperation and frustration is about. We aren't even supposed to be any good yet. We have many more seasons of success to look forward to, no worries if the Rangers win this year...we can at least take satisfaction in watching them get absolutely thumped in a playoff series.

This is hands down the unluckiest team I've ever seen in my life. It really is unreal. It takes skill to be 6-17 in one-run games on the road.

    Tonight alone, we had:

1.) Keuchel making his first error since May 2014, leading to 3 unearned runs
2.) Said error comes when it would've been the 3rd out of the inning, against a .167 hitter.
3.) Wild pitch scores an LAA run
4.) Controversial call allows another LAA run
5.) Altuve lines into a DP with Springer on 1st/0 out, moments after missing a double by inches

All of the above in a ONE-RUN game. Change even one of those five variables, and the entire result likely changes. As it is, it's yet another close road loss, and it's combined with a near-perfect game from Colby f'n Lewis. So, yeah.

Yeah that's what really sucks that was such an easy play for Keuchel

6-17 in one run road games. That is an incredibly unlucky stat.

No idea, but But for the last 4 month, is very average baseball.

This team played great for a month and a half, average after that, and awful in september.

If you blow an 8-game lead in August to the Rangers, who return a Cy Young-caliber pitcher in Yu Darvish the following year... sorry, I don't see how you could take any satisfaction in that whatsoever.

I don't care what the expectations were in March. You had an 8-game lead in August and added to your existing talent with the Gomez, Fiers and Kazmir trades. If you blow that, it's an epic, historic collapse and there's zero consolation to be taken. At all.

This is November talk. Right now, we want them to win this damn thing. Nothing is guaranteed.

Saw on twitter a few days ago that the pythagorean theorem had the Astros at 80-55 which further reiterates they have been catching some bad luck throughout the season

We are just an average team...we needed Hamels or maybe a hot Cespedes to truly propel is into anything more.
We will definitely be a really good/great team eventually, but it's a long process.

And to add Cat that there are no guarantees the Astros will be good for years to come as the A's, Mariners and Rangers are looking to be even tougher next year

Yes the team has had a lot of bad luck on the road but it just appears that the Astros are just not quit good enough. A better team makes their own breaks and finds a way to win more of those games some how. I also think the team lacks enough mental toughness. It's easier for them to overcome adversity at home, like it is for most teams, but they seem to fall apart on the road more easily and its hard for them to get over the hump.

It is very frustrating and especially since it's Dallas...but they have more seasoned talent and we are more mindful of a long term vison...hence the 1b status quo instead of taking a chance at calling one of the young guns up.

Kazmir should never have been considered to be a savior on the level of Hamels...the Astros are bad in one run games (in my opinion) because they suck at situational hitting. They are way tool inconsistent. Errors and fluke plays are part of the game and can be the deciding factor in games when you are an average team, which the Astros are...their margin for error is tiny.
