No, that was unrestricted free agent to be KJs value. We have control now. TWill was a nutjob like Markieff
Meh, not sure if contract makes him that much more valuable, to me he's as unproven as any D-league rookie star, balling on the 76'ers for half a rookie season doesn't mean much especially when Covington had a better season. Not try to play down the kid I hope he can replace Ariza and plays like a monster, but I'd never put those expectations on a unproven rookie type player. Twill couldn't learn how to play in a system, case of trying to be Lebron with a role players skills. Markieff is a solid player who knows his role and fits in quite nicely, he just has attitude problems and a hot tempter. Different problems, i'm sure Twill had attitude problems as well, but not knowing the role or not understanding how to play in a team ball system is not a problem Markieff has, which is the real reason Williams is out of the league right now.
Not now that we are retaining 'locker room' players to sit on the bench. Morey knows it's time to build team synergy.
Maurice Taylor with Pistons era J smoove's 3 pt shot and a mixture of t-will/artest/jrsmith/Roycewhite in the head, the motor consistency of Stromile Swift, the wingspan ratio of Kevin Willis & Rex from Toy Story, and the face of a sad shar pei. At 8 mil wowwee what a bargain!
The contract was the whole point. Wherever he went, there was a chance he was going to be just a rental for whoever traded for him, which lowered his trade value
Honestly I don't care about his attitude problems. Maybe Phoenix did lie to him. Who knows? At this point he's better and more proven than both our PF's. Not only that, but he's pretty clutch.
I think that for the most part comes as opinion after dissecting their games, their statistical production, and variance in the roles they play with the teams they play on. (I'm not going to go into the statistical comparisons because its been done on previous pages). Then you stop thinking about "He HAS BEEN better than D-Mo/Jones" vs. "He WILL BE better than D-Mo/Jones" next year and in the future, and things get even murkier. Long story short, its a pretty murky comparison. Has he been the better player, probably. All things considering before the attitude issues... its iffy. After the attitude issues, its a no-brainer. Then you add in the continuity factor, and the ability to capitalize on YOUR investment made in a players development, and its even more of a no-brainer. I'm not a fan of moving our PF's (who we don't even know how much they will cost to keep), for Markieff (know who he is, and what he's going to cost) Morris. Thumbs down.
Sorry, but this is freaking hilarious https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/3ki5f4/suns_radio_guy_texted_markieff_asking_if_he_would/ @ 5 min mrk: http://arizonasports.com/player/?a=314982
That's simply factually inaccurate. He might be a slight upgrade over Jones, but pretty much the only thing he offers over DMo is FT shooting. He's either the same or worse at literally everything else. Now the only questions we have to ask with respect to Morris is 1. Will he be released and make it through waivers? 2. If he's released and makes it through waivers, will he be okay coming off the bench? If the goal is to pick him up for little to nothing and then flip Jones for a pick or two, then I guess I could get behind the idea, but that's the only scenario this makes any sense at all.....the fact that it makes so little sense is probably why it's being talked about so much (Rondo, Rubio)
Precisely. It's like constructing a giant telescope for 3 years on a mountaintop for 1 big moment to catch a super rare shot at an even rarer comet, and then right as the comet is predicted to pass, you decide to check your Facebook feed on you're phone and miss everything. Or it's like CHOOSING to $#!+ the bed. There is never a more short-sided, self-cannibalizing decision in the history of humanity than trading any of our two PFs for this unremarkable, milk toast bonehead. All will be manifested, as it has been cultivated, within the 1st week of the regular season, and people will be slamming their head in a door going "Wow, why did I even begin to think Markief was anywhere near as great as D-Mo and Terrence Jones". Shhh Trust in Morey and all will be okay.
Out of all the headcases we've taken a chance on, Artest and JSmoove (although his attitude seemed to soften while he was with the Rox) have been the only players that have helped our team. We have not had much luck at all with players with narcissistic, selfish, "I'm a victim" attitudes. I see nothing but turmoil and toxic locker room chemistry with this guy.
and at least Artest and Smith played defense. Go watch Morris play D, if you can find any footage cause the dude flatout does not care about playing defense. Ask Hornacek, he admits as much. Motejunas and Jones may not be great defenders, but compared to Markieff Morris, they are DPOY material.
Suns mgmt has a history of "playing nice" with guys that do the same to the franchise. Even Nashty going to the Lakers wasn't that bad because of his loyalty. Amare wanted his bucks and bolted for NY and it was understandable. Sarver wants to build with "good guys" that want to be in PHX, but he's not going to give #FOE exactly what he wants. I'd be surprised with a buyout. It will take a pick or two and a decent player. We all know he won't likely get equal talent in return.
We've been through this already. You simply overrate DMo bro. DMo has better post game. But Markieff is a better overall scorer, better defender, ball handler & a better option down the stretch. DMo can't run pick in roll or get his shot of the dribble. DMo becomes a little soft against more athletic big man. Markieff has never been known as soft
That's a spot on assessment. I can't believe people are clamoring for this guy to come here. I sure am glad Morey only makes deals at the right price.
