Looks like Clowney didn't the half speed memo, but I love it. The stigma was/is he's not a hard worker.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to downplay what Clowney did there. I had the same reaction when I saw it: namely that the coaching staff had totally been downplaying how much of his athleticism Clowney had recovered/never lost from that surgery. I wasn't expecting much of anything from the guy in the first half of the season. But based on that clip, he may not miss a beat.

Mainly I was trying to convince myself that Brown hasn't declined as much as some might be worried. That would be a big deal if he turned into a weakness on the line.

Very true, but I think it can be explained as him just trying not to get hurt in practice so he was doing a half ass job. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Exactly! That's what I did just the other day after Hard Knocks was done. Then, when I went to cancel it, they offered it (HBO) to me for $5.00 a month for ever. I took that deal.

Can you imagine Kubiak getting down and doing push ups?

What a great season that was. BOB is a rock star. I had no idea he was so damn funny. And the thing that separates him from Rex Ryan is that BOB didn't seem to want the attention where Ryan thrived on it. That made BOB come off as much more genuine than Ryan IMO.

The whole "2nd down vs 3rd down" bit that started the last episode had me rolling.

Probably the funniest part of the entire season was BOB's reaction to Wilfork in the overalls.

I'm getting dangerously close to becoming a BOBOF.

The NFL is one of my clients and I had a call with them yesterday. We talked about the season and the lady I was speaking to couldn't stop gushing over how awesome the Texans were for this program. They agreed it was easily the best season ever.

Definitely put the NFL in a positive light with all this Brady and Goodell junk flying around

The players loved Kubiak; whatever issues/faults he had (and/or were lumped on him by fans), his teams never quit on him. So, yeah... I could easily imagine Kubiak doing push-ups.

There seemed to be a lot of quit during that 2-14 season. I remember that many players looked bad that year, only to bounce back once O'Brien took over. Can't say with certainty that the team quit on Kubiak, but it seemed to me that they weren't battle-fighting as hard as they had in previous years.

So hard knocks ruined our team with distractions right?

It was a perfect storm of conditions that led to that horrible season. Arian's injury, Schaub's ineptitude, our offensive scheme seeming being figured out by every other team in the league, and the typical gradual decline in defensive effectiveness that is synonymous with Wade Phillips.

My only point was that the team's complete meltdown could suggest that he lost some people in the locker room.

One thing I don't miss about Kubiak is when he says "Those kids this and those kids that and its on me John"

Out of the 14 losses, only about 4 were blow-outs. 9 of those losses were by a touchdown or less. I don't think the team quit, they just sucked for some odd reason.

Kubiak's final seven losses that year were all by seven, or fewer, points. In fact, the total point differential over that stretch was just 29; so roughly 4/game.

They were competitive but ultimately handicapped by their QB.

In fact, I thought there were only two games where they looked wholly disinterested: at San Francisco and then the following week against the Rams. And I'd argue the 49er loss was more of a quit on Schaub; that opening pick 6 after the collapse against Seattle... as a fan, that broke my spirit. I'm sure it hit the players pretty harder.

I guess thats good you, her and others on here think it was that good a season. I didn't think it was that special. It was just an alright HK season to me. I still prefer the Jets season and last year Bryan Cox made up for Mike Smith's unentertaining pansy-ness.

You meant most popular Houston Football athlete ever right?
I gotta figure Hakeem and Yao were more popular and renowned nationwide than JJ is right now.

Yao was a global figure. Outside of the US and outside of football fans, nobody knows who JJ Watt is.
