43% of Republicans could imagine supporting a military coup in the United States

The statement is:

"Republicans (43%) are more than twice as likely as Democrats (20%) to say that they could conceive of a situation in which they would support a military coup in the United States. "

The context of the two sentences are very different.

 

It's all the same. Republicans is twice as likely today because Obama. Democrats might be twice as likely tomorrow because Trump... nay.

It's hard to imagine a situation to support a military coup with the way the government is structured. If somehow, an alien race, or technology take over the mind of all branches of government, yet not the military....

 

87% of Clutchfan Democrats polled could imagine a situation where they could FAP to every member of the cast of the Golden Girls within a 30 minute episode. The other 13% felt Estelle Getty was a boner killer.

 

There is great glee in stiginit to the libs in a survey question.

 

I don't know how accurate the poll is but from my personal experience I know that there is a huge swath of the conservative population that have delusions of grandeur fantasizing about running around in full PPE with high speed plate carriers and an automatic rifle with 10 attachments going town to town liberating double D blonds from liberal atheist communist Muslim terrorists as if they are Ricky Recon. Ex: Faux militia groups at the Bundy ranch.

 

Well, you might be putting words in the mouths of some of the 43%. Nowhere did it say 'dictatorship.' It could be a temporary military stewardship while a proper (small government, states rights, free market) democracy is restored -- at least in the conservative fantasy of running Obama out of office by whatever means necessary.

 

Fact is these 43% of Republicans care more about getting their way than they do about democracy. I think that shows pretty clearly in their views and the desire for revolution and their anti-gov't stance.

The problem with gov't is that it has too many liberals and they only like democracy when their side gets to be in power. As America moves to the left, they will become more and more radicalized.

 

I used to think like that too. Of course I was 12 years old and had seen Red Dawn one too many times.

 

Yeah, not ****ing possible.

 

I wonder how the founding fathers would have voted.
