Lots of stuff going on in the Tibet threads. Sort of begs the question of whether or not the Rockets should keep Yao.

Yao is very proud of his country and if he plays for the CNT and actually runs with the torch, then I think a lot of fans may have problems with that.

SUre why not. Or even better trade him for somebody who can play more than 50 games a year.

On moral grounds, I think trade may be some what hypocritical. Kind of like trading Pacman Jones or Chris Henry. If the management truly find their players to be of reprehensible moral fibre, they should not garner any benefits.

Yao didn't do anything wrong and he shouldn't be forced to take a stand against his home country.

It's not about Yao as a person. It's about supporting China and their human rights record. Much of his salary goes directly to the PRC.

Says who. What if they traded him to a crappy franchise in a town with a miniscule chinese population and no good restaurants (New Orleans comes to mind, or Memphis) - think of it as more of an exile than a trade. Plus for salary cap reasons - we shouldn't let CCP tyranny hamper us under the cap. If so the terrorists have already won.

That's about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

In that case, you should stop buying anything that's made in China, toss out anything made in China from your house.

I'm striking my match right now. Should I warn my neighbors in advance or just assume they will be up for joining in my protest?

What the hey. They are politically minded people, I'll just go ahead and light their's up as well. I've got two matches.

I disagree. A government is made of its people. I don't believe the PRC gov't can exist without support from its people, so every Chinese is guilty by association.. .They either support the gov't (guilty) or they do not speak up against the gov't (guilty).

So since Yao is Chinese and he "looks forward to the Olympics" in Beijing, Yao supports the chinese gov't which supports killing the harmless innocent tibetan spiritual farmers. In another word, Yao supports killing innocent tibetans.

I think we need to start excommunicating the chinese people from this country!... oh wait, nevermind.
