Firstly, who cares what the "Chuckster" thinks. Maybe he's motivating, maybe he's just a phoenix geek, who knows? What I do know is that he is wrong so often, it's not worth being mad about, and might be a good sign that he's picking against us. So, you want us all to wear shirts that say "Houston can't beat utah," is that right? Not sure that makes much sense to me, but maybe I'm just not "spirited" enough, being a season ticket holder. Special shirts for the playoffs? I could see it. Hell, make some and sell them, I bet you make a mint.... but I wouldn't put that on them. ----- potential digression ----- You know, just because I yell and scream at the games, doesn't mean I hold it against someone who does not. At least they are AT the games. If I had a dime for everytime someone who doesn't go to the games complained about those who do, I could buy season tickets for all the "real" fans. Seriously, I get so tired of hearing from people, who evidently don't go, about how we are not good fans. Houston is a relaxed town compared to many. I like to think that is a good thing. I like to think that's why when we won championships, we didn't burn the city down and topple vehicles the way places like Detroit had done in other years. Now THERE are some good fans for you.... Hey Artest, can I get you a beer? HERE! Maybe we as a group aren't as loud as some arenas... maybe. Does this mean we don't care? Of course not. I sit in a relatively quiet section, and generally stand out as the loud one there, but it doesn't matter to me who else is yelling and how loud they are doing it. They are there... regularly... I know they care. We all talk, before and after games/breaks/whatever, and for the most part they are knowledgeable enough that I know they are fans. Fans show support in different ways. I do know the team has made comment in the past (last year) about a lack of support in the arena, and I do understand it, but people should realize that being somewhat reserved does not make one a bad fan. Also worthy of noting is that people were SERIOUSLY geeked about last year, bought up season tickets, and then watched 60 games without their two superstars. Hard to cheer for that (though of course I did). Even JVG said so when the team mentioned to him their qualms with the intensity in the arena. Would I like it if the arena got louder? Sure, games are more fun that way, for me.... but I think the people at the games are rockets fans as much as anyone else, just maybe not as zealous or emphatic about showing it on cue as a trained animal might, or say... some guy with a "Jazzman" license plate around his neck.... (hope that guy comes back again this year) --------------- T-Gray from last year while rockets getting pummeled in a dismal season "Cmon Rocket fans.... I can't HEAR you" *cue applause meter*
What the hell??? Again... I'm curious at the timing that the YOH's choose to reveal themselves. If they were to come out of the woodwork they should have come out after the phoenix game or the clippers game.
I really like those t-mobile commercials...what I don't like were the Right-Guard commercials he used to do back in the day..."flaky white stuff"...
Is he the same person that in Yao's rookie year claimed Yao could never get 20 points in a single game? And now Yao could even average 26 points. Through this example, you can tell that Charles speaks out his words (or shait) without think it first.
I always loved Barkley as a player. Always one of my favorites in the entire League -- even before he played with the Rockets. However his Rockets comments as a talking head are pissing me off.
Hey guys, don't over re-act and be real. Charles sometimes is silly and absent/single minded but he definitely is not stupid. Don't forget he is a gambler. (I know, I know, he does not do very well in that practice.) But playing against Utah in the playoff w/o the home court advantage, Rockets' chance is really not good. For Barkley, it is a very safe bet. And if Rockets lost (God Forbid), he could use this as a fact to back up all his previous judgments/comments on Rockets no matter how ridiculous they sound. Just imagine he says "I HAVE TOLD YOU SO!" with a grin on his fat oily face.
Straight up! Damn! Don't we all know. Jazz is going down and almost they all go down every playoff except when Charles"Fat Ass" Barkley was in Rockets uniform, because he was so fat he was'nt even close to John Stockton for the winning shot!
lol yea your right, it probably wouldn't be good to have a whole arena wearing a sentence that downs the team... unless of course everybody in the world reads this thread and understands What would be good is that if after Utah goes down, charles wears a shirt saying "UTAH CAN'T BEAT HOUSTON" on tnt overtime. that would be sweet sweet revenge.
What's sad and funny is I have noticed the "_OF" and " _OH" abbreviations popping up on other boards.
Anybody saw this? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zaHyi3dyt4E"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zaHyi3dyt4E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Maybe he's saying this to motivate us? You can't take everything Chuck says seriously... He (Barkley) and Tmac are boys and I'm sure Chuck really wants to see the Rockets do well.
Yep, Yao went for 20+ vs the Fakers (rookie season) and Chuckster thought he was going to be another Shawn Bradley, Manute Bol, Gheorge Mureshan, etc. Chuckster also said in back to back playoff series when in Phoenix ('94-'95), that the Rox were done and he was already toasting the celebration to the next round. And then, ... there was Big Shot Bob who said "I don't think so..." and then Mario who said "Kiss this! Adios, Phoenix and don't forget to tip your waiters and waitresses on the way out." Bottom line, T-Mac and Yao have to finish what they started, take nothing for granted and dominate and the pundits will have no choice but to shut up, even Chuckster!
I don't know if it has already been said or not, since I didn't read every post, but Blinebury said on his blog last night that Barkley's bias against the Rockets stems from the fact that he didn't like it when Rudy T. got pushed out. That's no excuse to let something influence your objectivity, but it is a little more admirable than the theory that he doesn't like Yao. It does surprise me that he seems to delight in ticking off the fans of where he played for several years. It seemed that he and the fans got along fine when he played here, which Pippen made easier by acting like such a jerk. Maybe Blinebury's right or maybe Barkley never got over the the heartbreaking losses to the Rockets before he came on board. Either way...he has to eats his words all the time. This time won't be any different.
