Do something with the ball when Harden gives u a 4 on 3 or wide open shots, rest of team! When Harden gives up the ball facing a double, the rest of the team turns it over, bricks the wide open shot, or throws up something tragic at the rim.
I was saying the same thing last night. And make a more crispier pass. Those be some lackadaisical looking passes. And very slow.
People often said when Harden was double teamed and gave up the ball, the Rockets are playing 4V3. This is the most idiotic statement. When Harden was double teamed and gave up the ball, he usually stands at mid court and just completely gave up on the play and being a witness. While the other guy coming off to help double team him will keep running back to defend and more than often, the guy whose originally guarding will also move back to near the top of the arc to help out. Double team is not just about at that point what happened, its always about what happened after and what decision making follows. Check those plays AFTER Harden passed the ball (which many passes were direct TOV also), how many of them ended up at a shooter's hand immediately for wide opened 3 and how many ended up with Tucker driving or Capela driving and eventually ended badly?
It’s both honestly, harden is too much in the convo of the GOATs to be vindicated from this, he needs to figure out how to be useful off the Ball, but the idiot coach is largely to blame imo
They were throwing the slowest half-assed double teams on Harden I have ever seen. And he willingly stayed at halfcourt. No hustle to get open at all
If we played that game 9 more times and they defended Harden the same way and we went with the same strategy we win the next 9. We got wide open looks and a ton of 4 on 3 looks that were easily exploitable.
Is not idiotic. If the double team is happening at half court, the defender has to run quite a ways to actually recover and attempt to challenge shots. If Westbrook has a decent shooting game, the Rockets likely win yesterdays game. The fact is, the Rockets did not shoot well. I saw plenty of open looks off that double team, the Rockets did not convert. If the Rockets can't make baskets, they can still win the game if they choose to play defense. Yesterday they chose not to play defense, therefore, compounding the issue since they couldn't hit shots. We are 21-10, we aren't struggling. Lol. We had a bad shooting game and the bad defense does not allow us to actually win games where we can't hit ****. I would rather focus on the bad defense and that's what is alarming to me. It's been alarming to me all season. It's great that we can play good defense when we feel like it, but this team does not have consistent effort. They are shooting themselves in the foot because ultimately they will not be able to pull out these kind of games if they are going to give up open lanes to the basket and also open threes.
Exactly. This ESPN article is just another insult to your face. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...riors-limited-james-harden-innovating-defense "That game plan was f---ing phenomenal today," Green said. "It don't get much better than that." My ass. This GSW team is pure garbage, they are what exactly their record is reflecting. The issue with the Rockets is always the attitude and the leadership, and of course it always start with the superstar of the team. This team has more than enough talents to win, as we have seen how high the ceiling it can be in many games, but also so forking sad to see how low the floor it can be when the team was not care at all. Efforts, dumb fork decisions making are always the core problem in this Harden era of the Rockets. Its never about the talent.
You should try harder to defend plays like this. Check out the GSW player that was originally guarding him and see how he helped out on the loss ball and how the other GSW player rotated to the position to check on Harden and also what Harden did when House got the ball after the broken play.
Dear Harden You play with bums. Don't trust them Do it all by yourself They won't hit open shots ...so take all the shots -- Clutchfans Rocket River
Right. It is 4 on 3 for a split second. But you can't make Clint Capella or Tucker capable of driving and making plays whether its 5 on 5 or 3 on 1. Then that split second is over and it becomes 5 on 5 or in some cases 4 on 5 (so against the Rockets) just as quickly. Harden is obviously amazing and creates these opportunities. Why they can't just add some post pass movement to make it even more offense is confusing.
Oh, of course. Let's start blaming Harden once again because his teammates can't take advantage of a 4 on 3 situation. And that one video of him is so out of context. There were a number of times where he played it to a guy who was wide open for a shot and yet they bricked it. There were a number of times where he did cut in. Heck, in the last quarter he cut in at least 3 times.... he made a floater, he missed a layup and passed it out twice to the open man. Besides, getting open off the ball is a lot harder from half court if the 2 guys are still sticking to you. Now I admit Harden does get lazy on defense, but I'm not going to start blaming him on the offense, especially after he gives you an easy 4 on 3 situation if 2 of their guys are at the half court with Harden. I don't get how you guys are so quick to jump on a guy who still had 24 points, 11 assists (would have had 20 plus assists if his guys who hit their shots), who shot efficiently and made the right passes.... when getting double teamed from half court basically from the start of the game. Not even Kobe and Jordan got that type of treatment. You know why? They had good support. You couldn't leave their support open on a 4 on 3 situation, because they'd take advantage of it most of the time. If Harden had better support around him, this double teaming from half court wouldn't happen.
