I realize all that matters is a Championship, but I'm very intrigued by how his stats will look like this season... I say: 22-5-7 with an uptick on his FT% and a FG 43%, he's going to shoot a lot of 3's an isn't going to be pretty...But very excited about everything else he brings, especially his FIRE and ENERGY!!!
The only stats that will matter - games played, team def reb % change, team pace of play, fast break points, FTA's, assists, turnovers.
Honestly just look at the the last game. Rusty westi who exploded for a brief period of the game still put up 22 or 23 with ease. I personally think he I’ll easily average 25 -8 boards 7 assists this season.. My only hope it’s at a efficient clip

I saw this stat somewhere a year or two ago, but it went something like: The Thunder's PPP on the next play was X% higher when Westbrook grabbed the defensive rebound vs when anyone else grabbed it. So I know we all love to mock Westbrook for swiping guys' rebounds, but there might* be more to it than he just wants that double-figure rebound total. *Also there might not be... I'm not convinced one way or the other yet.
Yeah, it's purely a joke. We need WB helping on rebounds, but it will be fun to watch Capela fight for the bunny boards off missed FTs. As for your stats, I also defended the idea of WB being a rebounder, because the sooner the PG gets the ball, the faster you can attack in transition. The long outlet pass idea to releasing wing players (with limited handleds) is old strategy, because new NBA does a much better job of releasing transition defenders to limit those opportunities, so best to just look for PG rather than look down field ... every split-second counts. And even better is an attacking PG just getting the rebound himself. And even better is a versatile C like Draymond Green attacking in transition with 4-guys releasing who also have handles, should they get a pass without clear numbers advantage. Bottomline: A main Defensive strategy now is to stop transition at expense of offensive rebounds that previous eras crashed the boards for. And most offensive teams don't have too many releasing wings with handles, so passing forward to them is inefficient.
On the bolded part: Man it sure would be interesting to see #s of Kevin Love outlet passes over the years. That would be a great way to illuminate this change in the game. Love is already an interesting study in the way NBA has changed: he'll probably be the last PF to ever average 15rpg for a season; and nowadays he takes more 3s per game than Reggie Miller did.
18-8-8 I mostly want to see his field goal percentage improve. He is going to rebound the ball and pass the ball...... get out in transition, improve his field goal percentage withing the paint and hit well enough on 3's to prevent teams from sagging.
He’s the best rebounding pg in the league. His stats gonna be 18-10-9 similar to cp3s numbers but better rebounding and defensive stats
23/10/9 We need his double digit rebounding. He has good early chemistry with Clint and he is surrounded by shooters. His assists #'s should remain solid.
Measuring Top 1% is not exactly the way to measure paradigmatic shifts. That Love measure would be volume-ish stat, not efficiency, btw. As Love should be smart enough to know when not to pass. And those times he doesn’t, he’s wasting time looking while standing still, vs giving Irving the damn ball...to attack 3on3 and 4on4 early offense. Bottomline: If you need analytics to convince you that every team in the league has switched to releasing transition defenders in numbers over going for rebounds ... then just look at the league-wide massive reduction of ORB%. The impact on easy outlets is the goal. That’s a BIG paradigmatic shift in NBA.
