Old sayin': If you are not cheating, you are not trying.....

There is a reason teams watch film in EVERY sport. If a football team picks up plays or snap counts, it is just good scouting. If a basketball team picks up on players offensive or defensive tendencies and takes advantage, good scouting.

For some reason, Baseball thinks it is cheating stealing signs or picking up a pitcher tipping his pitches. One of those "unwritten rules" that Baseball is know for. Astros may be the best with their analytical approach picking up things on Film and with in-person scouting. Yet, people like to harp on it like it is cheating.

Too many of these "unwritten rules" that are hurting baseball's popularity.

MLB Network on youtube did a breakdown. When Glasnow sets up his hands high, it's a fastball. When he sets his hands low, it's a curve.

The announcers were tipping the pitches for the fans during game 5 as well. Everyone is trying to be a Tony Romo

Neither is cheating. Stealing signs by players on the field is frowned upon and against the unwritten rules. Taking advantage of a pitcher tipping his pitches is just good baseball.

How is this cheating? Glasnow was giving the pitches away. Are the batter equipment with hearing devices linked to the dugout? Not sure what the bid deal is

At the start of the game, one of the announcers mentioned that Glasnow had two pitches. A fastball and a slider. To me, that's a 50/50 chance, witch isn't exactly rocket science or quantum physics.

It's not, but there are people who think it is.

It is no ones fault but the pitcher who is tipping his pitches. Any team complaining about their opponent taking advantage of that is just salty.

This happens in every sport pretty much.

In Football a QB can read the defense by motioning a WR sometimes (or any other kind of tell).

In basketball as a defender there are things, habits, an offensive player does that makes them more predictable.

Pretty much in any sport it helps to pick up on predictable habits or pick up information that can benefit you or your team, just being a high IQ player or team.

Why don't you start another Astros choke thread punk? You know you want to and will do it at the first sign of trouble like a little whiny b****....

Save yourself some time and start early if you're gonna do it.

Just watched the first inning again. Hands set around letters on his chest is a curve. Hands above letters is a FB.

What hurts baseball more is the antiquated way they handle broadcasting games but most of all is the playoff games. No one should have to jump through 8 hoops to watch the games.

Bah. Fox was cheating when they were zooming in on our guys talking about Glasnow tipping the pitches. They were purposely tipping off TB that Glasnow was tipping off his pitches, hoping to keep us from scoring again. AND they used cameras to do it, which carries the death penalty. It's an unwritten rule.

Ortiz asks Springer: “Glasnow was tipping his pitches, right?”
Springer: “Man, I’m too stupid for stuff like that. It’s hard enough just to see the white thing and swing at it.”

Not using cameras and communicating with the dugout is very much a written rule. Picking up tells on the field or from the dugout is and has always been part of the game.
