I know it's waaaay early, but I needed something to look forward to, so here goes....

This is a list of forwards that are 2020 unrestricted free agents and on teams that are no better than fringe playoff teams, thus making them available to be buyout candidates. Some of these guys may have enough value to be trade assets, but I'll list them anyways.

    2020 UFA Forwards:
    Danilo Gallinari, OKC, SF
    Derrick Favors, NOP, PF
    Evan Turner, ATL, SF
    Andre Iguodala, MEM, SF
    Marcus Morris, NYK, PF
    Marvin Williams, CHA, PF
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, CHA, SF
    Solomon Hill, MEM, SF
    John Henson, CLE, PF
    Davis Bertans, WAS, SF
    Jae Crowder, MEM, SF
    Markieff Morris, DET, PF
    Patrick Patterson, OKC, PF

Feel free to list players at other positions, I just stuck with Forwards because that's where we are lacking right now.

Hopefully we're killing it as the buyout deadline draws near, so that we're an attractive destination.

I like Iggy, Morris, and of course, Danilo ..on buyouts.

And, a traded Shump, coming back after being bought out.

Marvin Williams would be a dream scenario. Getting one of Danilo Gallinari, Jae Crowder, Andre Iguodala or Morris would all be amazing.

Two forwards I like that I think the Rockets can get cheap are:

Vince Carter - still can drive and slam and hit the 3...not much on defense, but can be a boost off the bench for points
Corey Brewer - same talent as Carter basically, maybe a better defender

I think these 2 guys can really help the front court on the cheap

The Charlotte guys seem like, cause even if there was value for them in a trade, Hornets couldn't get it anyway.

Something to remember on buyouts is that players have to give up money. Someone who is a good player on a big contract in their prime normally just rides it out to free agency.

Marcus Morris for example just spurned San Antonio, a winning team, to go to the Knicks for an extra handful of million. Now you think he’ll give up money to go win?

    • A team cannot reacquire a player it traded away during the same season (a season for this purpose being defined as starting on the first day of the regular season and ending on the last day of the Finals). If the player was traded between seasons (i.e., from the first day after the Finals to the last day prior to the start of the next regular season), it cannot reacquire the player prior to the end of the next season. If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first6. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, it can reacquire the player during the same season.

Cant do that with Shump. He's restricted from joining the Rockets for 12 months after being traded.

    Marvin would be great.

Vince was actually a positive on defense last year I think, surprisingly.

I think as a stretch 4 he's an interesting player at this point.

I think Henson would be a great fit for the Rockets but I’m sure that Cleveland would prefer to get a pick for him or keep him rather than buy him out.

I like Henson as a 3rd center option. His 7’6 wingspan is freaky. He can defend the rim and finish around the rim as well. He’s a strong rebounder. He shot over 35% from 3 last year on a little over 2 attempts a game. He could be a sneaky good pick up if he becomes available.

Gallinari and Crowder would be my favorites. Would expand the team with a big that can shoot and hard nose defensive player.

    I stand corrected.

Still want Shump on this team, barring a nice deal.

Didn't Marcus Morris sign his contract like 2 weeks ago? He's gonna get bought out?
