Who do you think will make the All-Star team this year?

For the Batters, I think Springer and Bregman are locks, with Brantley and Correa having good chances. Altuve has missed a lot of games, so he probably won't make it, unless he comes back this next month and goes on a tear, although there is the chance he wins the fan vote out right. Josh Reddick deserves some love, but there are a lot more deserving outfielders ahead of him.

For the Pitchers, I don't see how Ryan Pressly gets left off since he literally hasn't given up a run. And even Osuna has only given up 1 and is 12 for 12 in saves. Verlander already has 7 wins and is still putting up the Ks, while Cole leads all of the AL in Ks.

Still remember when Bregman said about 2 years ago, how folks would look back and be astonished that all that talent was playing on the same team. Let’s enjoy this because some guys are due some big extensions and per economics, you can’t pay them all what the market dictates.

Of course there is the Market and then there is the Agents assessment of value. Kind of what is going on with Keutchel.

But I can see the Astros loading up the Allstar team with Astros players.

I didn’t vote for Altuve but didn’t think about van fote. He might get voted in. Honestly you can easily get 8 or 9 guys on there as far as deserving. They’ll probably end up with 5 or 6.

It's worth noting that the All-Star voting will be a little different this year...
With that being said, Altuve (despite his subpar season) should probably still make the top three. Whether or not he's voted in after that should depend on what he can do between now and the voting.

As of right now, I'll guess that these are our All-Stars

    Bregman (voted in as starter)
    Correa (possibly starting?)
Springer (definitely starting as long as he's not out for an extended amount of time)
Brantley (won't start but should still make it)
Verlander (essentially a lock to make it at this point)
Cole (not a lock, but leads league in K's and his ERA is lowering with each start... should make it)
Pressley (absolutely dominant and is receiving a lot of attention around the baseball world for his historic streak)
Altuve (He'll make top three on fan vote and do just enough between now and end of June to bring his numbers up and make the team)

Osuna deserves to make it, but something tells me MLB will do everything possible to choose some other relievers (Hand, Chapman, Greene from DET) because of Osuna's past.

    Yup I do.
I'm going tonight. A random Tuesday. Verlander is pitching. I'm not taking anything for granted. Enjoy this run.

If Devo and Will Harris can get all-star nods, then Pressly definitely has to make it.

    It’s pretty insane:

    Locks:
    SS Correa
    3B Bregman
    CF Springer
    SP Verlander
    SP Cole

    Near-locks:
    2B Altuve
    LF Brantley
    RP Pressly
    RP Osuna

Worthy but probably won’t make it:
    C Chirinos
    CF Marisnick
    RF Reddick
    RP Harris
    SP Peacock

    Not good enough:
    DH White
    C Stassi
    1B Gurriel
    SS Diaz
    LF Kemp
    SP Miley
    RP McHugh
    RP Rondon
    RP Framber
    RP James
    RP Devenski

    Haven’t played enough:
    SP Martin
    RP Guduan

It's way too early to worry about All-Star Game, but I voted:

    Bregman
    Correa
    Springer
    Brantley
    Altuve
    Verlander
    Pressley

Altuve doesn't deserve it right now, and may not in a month either, but AL 2B isn't overly strong, and I expect him to win the fan vote.

Cole today would be a tough omission simply because our team already has so many reps and his ERA doesn't stand out, but if he cuts his ERA down with a couple of great starts, he'll be in. If Osuna continues to put up these numbers, I'd say he gets in too, but I think he'll have one or two bad outings that will knock him down too much to take 2 Astros relievers. Reddick has been good this season, but not All-Star worthy.

I still don't know what to make of Jake this season. It has been 5-6 weeks since the last time he's walked. His Ks are up over that time. He can't hit a fastball. He's like a reverse Ceranno on breaking balls and offspeed stuff. Maybe needs more rum?
