Does this mean they're getting away from "continuation" then?

My exact thoughts as I read these tweets.

How are they not going to award free throws when Harden is gathering the ball and is on his final two steps before going up with it.

Yet we'll no doubt still see free throws for the most ridiculous continuation calls.

That's gonna take some adjusting to. This board is gonna melt down the first time that's called an offensive foul in a key situation.

well yeah pretty much eliminating the harden move of hooking someones harm and trying to throw up the shot lol

that move was always so bad and they fell for it most of last year. towards the end of the season we saw less and less calls for it and rightfully so

    Short version,

    1. if you're caught reaching, it is a foul as always.
    2. If you aren't shooting yet, it's not a shooting foul, but it is still a foul.
    3. If offensive player fouls the defender, it's an offensive foul.

Now, let's have 24 hours of discussions on ESPN talking about whether or not Harden cheats.

Harden comes with a new exploit pretty much every year so I'm not worried and I doubt Harden is either. If anything this will probably boost his ego knowing that the league is changing rules to stop him like they tried to do with Shaq, Jordan, Iverson etc.

Harden will adapt. Then they will crack down after Harden finds another aspect of the game he can exploit for points. Harden will adapt again.

Are they going to crack down on Kawhi's ever-changing pivot foot?

Reaching is a defensive foul still. They are just checking for shooting vs non shooting.

They didn't say anything is now an offensive call, that wasn't before. We've seen Harden get called for offensive fouls during a drive hooking a defender who wasn't reaching. Happened in the Spurs series. Defenders sticking their arm through a pick in PnR is reaching. Harden hooks that, still reaching for sticking your arm out around the pick. They want it to be a common foul now, though. So do I.

Harden rule = best statistical season's back to back means no MVP.

Only MVP I care about is finals MVP.....

Apparently the Kashi shuffling his feet is so egregious, they can't even do a "Point of emphasis", like "NBA to crack down on players who shuffle their feet before making their move."

Not talking about hooking during a drive. More like coming off a screen or behind the 3pt line.

I would like to see Harden focus more on just getting buckets and less on forcing fouls

This is more about an emphasis on shooting vs non shooting fouls on defenders, like the Durant sweep through. We are't going to see a rash of offensive calls on Harden, because they didn't make any change to what is an offensive foul.

They just said, "Hey, if Harden fouls the defender, it's an offensive foul. But reaching is still a defensive foul."
