League is overloaded with bigs. Spurs trying to move Aldridge. Sixers trying to get value out of Okafor. Who will chase Noel and what is he worth?
Seems like he wants the max but nobody is willing to give it to him...i'm late for the poll but i would've vote 20/24.
Same goes with Mason Plumlee, no offers. Hawks, Nets, Dallas, Knicks and Spurs are the only teams without a starter-quality center at the moment. The Spurs may start Aldridge at C to accommodate Gay, the Knicks have a ton of money tied up on Noah plus a young talent in H'Gomez, the Hawks just signed Dedmon and Muscala, the Nets have Mozgov's salary. Dallas just has to wait it out, no point in overpaying for Noel, he doesn't have many alternatives. And if the Nets or someone else outbids them, they can sign Plumlee.
No surprise Plumlee is not getting big offers, he's an interesting player, good passer for a big, but he's not a modern player, he's a PF which is forced to play at the 5 due to his size and no offensive game...and whether you play him at center or at PF, he's just not good enough defensively and offensively to get start in a good team in today's nba, no outside shot and no rim protection with a bad defense overall...that's why other guys like Monroe, Favors, Faried, Dieng, Z.Bo have been all send to the bench in these past years, they're old school PFs and in today's game it's hard to have them start and/or play when the game is on the line.
While I agree on you on some points, those guys are still valuable as role players/6th man or even spot starters depending on the matchup. I'd love to have those "other" guys in my team if the price is right, especially Faried, Zbo and Plumlee.
I think he may get $15 mil 3 year, team option as he's still young enough and intriguing enough for a few teams still have some powder dry.
So my question at this point is if he gets offered a lower number, say 3-33, would he take it or sign the qualifying offer?
from noel's perspective no way. he's looking at the list of centers salaries and comparing them to himself. $11 mil per year would be an insult in his mind
