What would it take to put us in the same category as Golden State?

Let's pretend that there was no salary cap and we could make a fantasy team of players. Let's say we added Paul George and Anthony Davis to the team while keeping the rest of the roster mostly intact. Does that put us ahead of Golden State? Obviously, neither one of these additions will ever happen, but it's fun to dream. What about Hayward and Davis? Does that move the needle for us or no?

Personally, I think we could add Hayward, George and Anthony Davis and still not be favored to beat Golden State. So, what should the Rockets do?

    A lot.

We could sign Hayward, and we still wouldn't be close, we'd still be like 2 superstars away.

to compete with those mofos, first you have to realize harden is a 2nd option, not a first. then you need to get a first. then you realize there's only 3 first options in the league and they're on the cavs and warriors. then you panic and sign ryan anderson to 20m per for 3-4 years. oh wait we did that. ok then kidnap lebron and somehow force him to play for your team. problem solved

You'd have to add MVP candidates or potential MVP candidates to Harden. Minimum All-Nba team guys.

So... we're looking at Westbrook, Anthony Davis type players. Paul George would be a good start. He was in the top 5 discussion pre-injury.

Anyways, I think Morey's game plan going into the next 2 off-seasons should be to tell FAs,

"if you want to win, you need to either join a super team or form your own super team." That's just how it is and pitch them Harden as an MVP caliber point guard in that super team.

Honestly, we missed out big time on Demarcus Cousin because I think Morey could've gotten him if he didn't value Dekker so much. Cousins can be a 3rd or 4th guy in a super team. If we had both Cousins and Harden going into this off-season, we'd be a much more attractive destination for other Stars trying to form a Super team.

If you're talking about a fantasy world, then just add everyone else on the All-NBA team. We'd probably win 80 games.

    Harden, Westbrook, Kawhi, Lebron, Davis

The Warriors starting line-up are basically the All-Nba 2nd team. KD, Curry, Draymond, Klay.

I think the staff is as important as the team.

Let's say we keep Les Alexander as the owner, let us get as many visionaries as you can who will go all the way from the Draft.

You get a Steve Kerr the Mediator, Budenholzer Chief Assistant, Mike D'Antoni as Offensive strategist, Thibs as Defensive Coordinator.

You probably make Morey Co-GM with another solid guy.

First of all you need to draft your No. 1 Star (Curry) or trade at the Draft to get him, then get Thompson and Draymond Green, the Borderline Allstar DPOY candidate.

Then you need to surround them with with 6th man of the Year material, shooters, defenders, playmakers off the bench.

And assign a player like Iggy to be the main guy off the bench.

You hope to get One of Two Allstar FAs to sign with you as an elite Ring Chaser. (Durant, CP3, WB, guys who have enough Playoff EXP)

You go for the No. 1 Offense and at least Top 8 Defense. You play small ball and have two Enforcers at PF and C who can rebound, steal, block and pass.

That is probably what the WARRIOR are at the moment without so many good assistant coaches.

Besides Lebron and Durant who is a better offensive option?Harden on the offensive side is one of the best if not the second best offensive player in the league. Personally I have

    LBJ
    Durant
    Harden

as the best three offensive players in the league with Kawhi in there or just on the bubble.

It can be done easier. You just have to falsify Gloria James' papers and state that she was raised in the Houston Area.

Lebron out of love for his mom would come here more willingly.

Come on Dude, if we add Davis, George and Hayward to this roster we're definitely ahead in terms of talent, but aside for this impossible scenario, i think if we add George and...let's say Millsap, we would be able to compete, the Warriors are great but it's possible that in the next years their bench will be less relevant, Iggy is getting old, they'll have to pay a lot of guys...if we would be able to get two players like George and Millsap while keeping around guys like Gordon, Nene,
finally getting Llull would help too :D
i really think we would able to compete.

Nene is already old :D anyway, he doesn't have the same role/impact Iggy has/had there, one has been the finals MVP and a major factor in GS success as a team, Nene has been good for us but yeah...

Just realized how many years both of them served in the NBA. Productive players.

    First step: remove Anderson
    Second step: acquire leader
Third step: play more than seven players

Definitely, too bad for Nene he had some bad luck with injuries etc over the years...Iggy on the other hand has always been healty even if he put a lot of pressure on his body over the years (he was a beast athletically years ago), super durable player.
