Part of it is because his defenders play him very closely and like to half-court press him. [Or as the writer says, ride his hip to limit his passing options.]

Another part of it is because of - gulp - the rip through move that guys like Kevin Martin and Kevin Durant used to use. [I see the article mentions this but it gets really blurry trying to distinguish sometimes.]

But you see golden boy Curry at a mere 3% foul rate on 3 pointers --- that's because he just falls over to try and draw ref attention. That's called flopping. Still effective to draw over-the-back calls and charge calls, but not so much on a jump shot.

Nice. Next best combo is Batum and Walker.

That article mentions in passing that he's the MVP frontrunner, but let's ignore that.

Fearing the refs not calling the "rip" move in the playoff. We will see.

Funniest part is when he pulls the move time and again and the stupid opposition defender looks stunned. No **** sherlock, don't reach.

If you reach, Harden will teach

It's either they try to fight through the screen or their PF switches to Harden which he'll blow right past. It's hard to not extend your arm when fighting through a screen though. Harden had found a nice loop hole.

That's his go to move when things aren't clicking on offense.
I'm also afraid it's not a move that can work in the playoff, especially when he's locking the opponent's arm with his left hand while going up to shoot.
In the playoff the refs will come prepared, and will be suspicious on Harden and Lou, and that can actually hurt us quite a bit.
I wish he would stop doing that.

I'm more worried about Harden letting others (Lou and Gordon mostly) create in the playoffs. He's Mozart and Beethoven with the ball in his hand, but that has it's limit in the playoffs when the defense has time to prepare and scout meticoulously

I guarantee you the NBA will make a rule in the offseason and this will no longer be called. This is the same as the rip through move. Foul but no FTs allowed.

I don't see that happening. I would assume though you will see it less next season because teams will tell their players to stop doing it.
