This is stupid. His arrogance bothers me. So the offensive staff, already among the smallest in the league, gets smaller. It's insane. A WR coach is become the QB coach? WTF? I'm so disappointed by this news. He really needed to add another voice that had creativity. It's essentially just his mind and a bunch of peon position coaches now.
With Crennel becoming Asst HC, some of BOB's in-game responsibilities will be lessened so he can focus more on play-to-play strategy. That's my assumption anyways.
I agree with you justtxyank. The best HCs in this league are the CEO types who are willing to delegate the play calling and offensive/defensive rooms to their coordinators.
Maybe. But don't see the issue with bringing in someone whose sole responsibility is calling plays. But think BoB knows this could very well be his last year so guess he'd rather keep control as much as he can.
I'm not surprised, he's the offensive genius and QB guru. Makes no sense to hire an OC. This is O'Brien's offense. I'm fine with this actually, makes more sense.
I'll wait and see what happens before making a judgement. I wonder how many other head coaches do the play calling?
This is the right move, a great move. I have 100% complete faith in Bill O'Brien as a play-caller. This move is also really gonna help Brock Osweiler. Spoiler NOT! but but but look at the Titans game! Brock/offense's best game! So you fired your friend to promote yourself. Cool.
Quite a few actually, McCarthy, Arians, Payton, Reid, Gruden, Kubiak, and BoB did last season I believe.
I don't get this idea that Brock was awesome that game. He had 2 INTs. What I hate also is O'Brien's personnel decisions. We know the QB carousel. But then we have signing Lamar Miller to be our power back and then wasting so many picks on WRs and small fast dudes who haven't done anything.
Yes, I don't think many head coachs make the calls. Seems like it would be much easier to make the calls from the press box.
Disappointing news. This move isn't shocking because O'Brien is so arrogant and power hungry that it would be hard to get any OC worth a damn who wanted to work under him. Bill O'Brien was a bad hire as far as taking this franchise further.
Now it's really on him "we have to coach better" "our offense has to be better" make or break year for him now
