The goal should be winning 40 games before losing 15 games

Conventional basketball wisdom is that a team is a contender if they win 40 games before losing 20 games.

Well, with the elite super teams in the league (Warriors, Cavs, Spurs) the new standard should be 40 wins before 15 losses.

Hell, the Warriors will probably get to 40 before 10.

One thing I think everyone should be conscious of is that the Rockets have played just about the most games in the NBA thus far. I think the Cavs have played 4 less, the Spurs 3 less, and the Warriors 2 less.

We've also had so many b2b's. I haven't checked, but I'd wager we lead the league in that department as wel.

We are clearly tired as hell.

The Rockets need to continue putting bad teams away and hopefully get some rest.

We need to go 9-3 to get there.

    I believe.

I'm more concerned about the future. Where do they go from here. Warriors, Spurs and Cavs are still stacked af. We will win a ton of regular season games with D'antoni and Harden and hopefully that'll attract other all-stars to Houston in the off-season.

I think we should not expect the Rockets to be a contender in the first place, i understand why since i kinda feel the same after this first part of the season, but maybe (if not probably) we have to much expectations for this roster.

Really tough schedule coming up, but Capela coming back which helps. I'd be surprised if we hit 40-15, but 40-20 would be great.

Why not 200? Seems like you're setting the bar low here.

I believe we've had 9 B2B's and a total of 16 on the year. The rest of the league has catching up to do. Most teams play at least 15 B2B's. Only one team has 13 (timberpups I think).

Actually, the goal is to score more points than the other team - John Madden

    Oops, wrong sport!

****ing hell, we have 4 games in 5 nights stretch coming up.

Enough of the b2b's already. That would be 12... 12 so far this year.

    Man **** the NBA sometimes.

I think we'll win 22 of our last 28, so if we go 6-5 in these next 11 games we'll hit 60 wins and that will be the franchise record. If we do better than 6-5 in these next 11, we'll be giving ourselves a bit of a cushion.

Good thing we're getting Clint back, and @Codman seems to be hinting that there is a trade/signing brewing. If we shore up that SG spot we're good. Could be useful having a another big, but looking at these last 4 weeks, I am comfortable with Harrell/Nene being the backups.

Honestly if Morey is able to parlay our poo poo platter into a solid 3 & D bench player, we are going to go ape **** on this league.

5 in 7 nights. Thats the most brutal stretch an NBA team is scheduled for.. Oh and the last two of that against the Warriors and the Griz. Thanks NBA schedule makers. Appreciate the support

    Messed up.

Good thing we finished off the Nets early giving these guys a bit of rest. The bigs will be good for the next b2b, I'm pretty sure Capela will play a little bit on the first night and then a bit more on the second night meaning Nene and Harrell will get a breather.

I'm more worried about out backcourt guys.

    It won't be easy. After Miami, we face Mil (2nd of b2b), GS, @Mem (2nd of b2b), @mil, @bos.

Those could all be losses. Not saying we are going to lose all but all those teams are capable of beating us, especially at home.

4-2 would be nice in our next 6. I think it'll be 3-3.

Schedule makers have screwed us over from the jump this season.

Warriors and Grizz will likely be losses. Heat/Bucks/Celtics need to be taken advantage of.
