I just wanted to make a thread for Morey's continual effort to better the team. Everyone has made thread for our standouts so far this year like EG3, Dekker, Harrell, etc but the man that put the team together hasn't gotten his credit yet. Everyone was bashing him last year but this year he realized the mistake he had with Dwight and let him go and this time got the personnel to match the coaching. He got a little lucky he didn't get Hortford and Bazemore although they might have done well in our system, but to keep moving forward and grabbing EG and RA quickly after that and putting continual effort with our young big guys like Capela and Harrell. Last year draft picks were deemed terrible and this year they are coming out and playing more than anyone can imagined except maybe Morey. Anyways thank you Morey for always continuing to better the team, you can't win on every transaction, but he is definitely one of the better GM's in the league.
Rockets have been trying to get Ryno for a while now and I'm sure he figured out the 2 for 1 deal. Morey wanted JVG was allegations. We might never know but we know what we got with the team now.
Morey's a forward thinking GM and I like that, but GMs deserve credit when their teams get rings. So far, he's got a winner.
Thought for a moment he got fired. But then I noticed this thread was not "Official" so I calmed down.
Can you imagine how tough it must be to let your "second superstar" walk, knowing the only thing you'll get in return is (hopefully) restored chemistry? With his head coach gone, the season sinking fast, and Howard the one who caused the hole in the boat to begin with, I'll bet Morey was practically begging teams to take Dwight off his hands at the trade deadline. When he couldn't get anyone to bite, he just decided not to even entertain the thought of trying to convince Dwight to stay, knowing that the cost to the team was worse than it would be just to let him move on. Making no attempt at keeping Howard around seems like a no-brainer now, but that took some balls. Much respect to Maori for doing the right thing there.
If you like the changes made this year, you should be thanking Les Alexander. D'Antoni was all Les Alexander. Les Alexander told Morey to use the cap space or else. So far it has worked well. Nothing against Daryl but Les is the one that stepped in and forced change.
that's fine and all but he did get the personnel to fit the team this year and drafted some solid contributing role players last year and capela before that.
So judging by the 2 appreciation threads popping up in this forum yesterday, we can draw a conclusion to what had happened : - Morey traded Ariza and 2 first round draft picks to the Nets, and NO, its not for Jeremy Lin, and also NO, its not a compensation for an under the table deal for the Dmo's debacle - as imaging by Holic and a bunch of Dmo fan club members here, and its actually for Anthony Bennett. - And of course, he was drunk and drugged at that time inside a strip club when the trade happened and eventually he got fired by Les an hour later.
I think that Morey is a good GM and deserves to keep his job and deserves a lot of credit for players like Harden, Beverly, Ariza and Capela. I am only pointing out that the angry shrew hobbit known as Les Alexander, is the one that insisted that D'Antoni be the head coach and that Morey spend the cap space (even at the expense of flexibility). Les also gave a hard and high one to Morey by firing Gianluca Pascucci.
