Blowout game with starters still in

I'm confused on why the Rockets continuously allow their starters to play deep into the 4th quarter when it's a blowout. Today (on a back to back) would have been a great time to see the deep bench come in for the last 4+ minutes. Capela and Beverly played till the end.

Maybe Harden going for a triple-double had something to do with it today, but for the 8 minutes he was in the 4th quarter he got 1 rebound. Zero assists or points in that span while Bev and Gordon brought the ball up a lot.

Harden played 40 minutes this game. No reason for that IMO, on 2nd game of back to back in a game long decided

Maybe D'Antoni is of the opinion that you shouldn't mess with players' rotation schedules and throw off their rhythm.

Maybe D'Antoni does it to prove a point to the players to stop playing so lackadaisical at times. As in, if you don't teams away you have to play more, no exceptions.

Or maybe, he just wants Harden to pad his stats.

    Who knows?

Triple double alert. Sam Dekker stole one from him. Oh well.

My theory is D'Antoni was trying to experiment with a few plays and letting the guys get familiar with it.

MIke Anthony read the threads and wanted Harden to lose some weight and so played him extra minutes

Damned if you do, damned if you dont

Ur the first one to cry if the mavs go on a 15-2 run. Thunder were down 13 at like 6 minutes left last night. Play the game till the end. Keep playing although ur up by a large margin.

Stat Padding? If RW averages a TD well harden will need to do something to get his mvp.

He knows his basketball history and knows about Tmac scoring 13 points in 33 seconds so he doesn't fool around bringing KJ and Ennis until the game is completely in the bag.

Didn't look like stay padding. I think Dantoni wanted them to keep running the offense.

My guess is that they were practicing those pick/rolls with Capela. They tried it 2 consecutive plays and Capella kicked it out to open shooters once he got to he paint

To be fair, he only has to watch Ryno's, Nene's, and Gordon's minutes because they all injury prone. Nene didn't play, Ryno played 30 mins, and Gordon played 26. You could also say he has to watch Trevor's mins cuz of his age and he only played 32. Bev only played 28. James was the only one that played more than he really had to but he is only 27 years old and has proven he is a durable guy. Overall, this is worrying about nothing.
