So the idea is probably to score a crap ton of points in hopes for blow outs and resting multiple starters by mid-way through the 4th at the latest. When the games gets close, be just good enough to get enough defensive stops.. Hope this translates into wins.
Also, Thibs, Popovich, SVG and Budenholzer bunched up together in the "Work on Defense during Preseason" part of chart, with strong +5 or greater Nets.
Play high paced offense to tire them out when they're on defense. Then when the other teams on offense, they have no energy to properly execute.
This team feels like the 2010 Adelman team when Yao was out, except we have Harden this time I don't expect them to go far in the playoffs though because defense and TO's are still iffy. However this season will be much more enjoyable than the giant pile of crap that was last season.
I wonder how the data look if that game golden state had against the Clippers was removed. I see that as an outlier, I don't see GS having their way like that all the time. Also, for us, how the data looks without the Sharks game. We killed NYK. The game against SAS also lacked a good chunk of our good guys, so maybe that washes out the Sharks game? Not sure. But hey, in a lot of ways we all are who we thought we would be. I hope we steal games against good teams, and keep flying under the radar. TNT called Lillard and McCollum the second best backcourt in the NBA last night. Harden and the Waterboy, Towel Boy, or even if we're super desperate Corey Brewer will always be the second best backcourt in the NBA. I do like people not noticing us though, feels like it did 2 years ago.
I think we had a great preseason. I think despite the blowout yesterday that GSW is the team to beat - and this chart shows their 2 way dominance. I'm surprised to see how well WAS/MIA did given their lack of talent. That being said, the real test will be when we face contenders playing their primo players. I am excited to see how we do!
Honestly I don't think stats tracking or even Net rtgs of preseason games should count as meaningful analysis because the teams playing them aren't the ones who will play in the real NBA games, for example Spurs tracked really poorly here but once the season started they just destroyed GSW mainly because Kawhi, Gasol, LMA and co. all played instead of the Spurs prospects. With all that said I give Houston a 10/10 in the preseason just because the starters were able to gell comfortably with each other, there was potential of Gordon and Harden clashing in the back court ala JLin/Harden but nothing of the sort happened (mainly because Gordon is a real good shooter). Not only that, Dekker and Mcdaniels were able to quickly find their groove and looked much better than in SL. Finally, the Rox also acquired a few prospects in Brown, Wiltjer and Ennis. Compare that to last year where the only dude who showed some stuff in preseason actually got cut from the team anyway. As an added bonus, we even get a wimpy Lakers team as an appetizer to start the season so IMHO this is the best start the Rox have had in years.
Preseason actually has me pumped up for this season! So full of hope right now lol. This might be the best feeling I have all season
I looked way too long for Houston on that chart before checking the comments and realizing I had scrolled down too far to see them.
