So we've heard multiple times that the 24th is when opening day rosters have to be set ... First off , is this correct ?

Secondly , if they have to be set on the 24th , is there a specific hour by which this must happen ?

I make this point in an effort to find out when rockets fans can get real news . Will we find out who will make the team ? Or will there be a trade ? Will Dmo sign ? How seriously does the staff take Beverley's injury ?

There are a lot of unresolved questions and if the rosters have to be set sometime soon then hopefully we can finally figure out what is going on and what the team is going to look like going forward .

Good question. I just wonder what happens in the scenario if DMo signs the QO (or whatever offer he may still have from us - assuming he still has an offer?) in the last hour before roster finalization.
Could that mean with the cuts, we end up with 1 less contract than the max (if DMo doesn't sign) or 1 more if DMo does.
Otherwise does the FO know for sure 100% with DMo and there's been no release letting the fans know yet?

Copying info from post #55 in the 'Random Houston Rockets Trade Ideas - 2016-17' thread:

↑ Teams most likely to do a trade before 5:00PM EST Monday?

Cavaliers: "trying to trade Mo Williams and potentially Jordan McRae in an effort to acquire a backup point guard, but hadn't been able to make it work yet."; update - waived Dahntay Jones

Celtics: the final roster spot for the Celtics will come down to James Young and R.J. Hunter; update - waived R.J. Hunter

Lakers: update - waived Yi Jianlian and Anthony Brown

Pacers: cut Jeremy Evans to finalize 15-man roster [8:31 p.m. EDT October 23, 2016]

Pelicans: "Lance Stephenson and Alonzo Gee are in a two-man battle to land the final spot"; update - waived Alonzo Gee.

Thunder: "had 19 [players] as of Sunday afternoon"; update - Mitch McGary, Ronnie Price waived

Thanks for the list, very informative. Isn't Mo Williams a pg? Why are cavs trying to dump him for a guy at the same position? Surprised RJ hunter is about to get cut, weren't people saying this guy is a steal in the draft just last year? Lance Stephenson has fallen so hard it's tragic, but then again not surprised since for some reason he suddenly forgot how to shoot.

Mo retired from basketball, while under contract, but prior to that he took a surgery to make sure he gets paid even after retiring.

[cleveland.com - October 12, 2016] Mo Williams, still on Cavs roster, had knee surgery Wednesday
That Williams never formally retired was expected -- had he filed those papers, he'd get nothing of the $2.2 million
    left on his contract. [...]
The Cavs would still prefer, and are pursuing, a buyout of Williams' contract for less than the full amount.[...]
If another team takes him, they'd have to pay him because he apparently isn't going to formally retire.

[cleveland.com - October 20, 2016] Cavs pursuing trade for backup point guard; cut three players
Williams told the Cavs he would retire, but never filed paperwork with the league and no buyout reached with Cleveland.
So until Williams is either traded or cut, he occupies one of the team's 15 roster spots.

[cleveland.com - October 22, 2016] Cavs rookie Kay Felder in concussion protocol, status for opener unknown
Rookie point guard Key Felder was placed in the NBA's concussion protocol after he was hit in the head at practice Friday, the
    Cavs announced. [...]
The Cavs were already working to trade for a backup point guard so that Felder would not have to carry much of the load behind
    Kyrie Irving.
