Do you all think we'll see a few right away or one by one? Stars go first?

Don't forget, unlike the NFL, the NBA has a lot of international stars.

I could see protests from Nowitzki and Parker if Trump wins because of his comments about "more vetting needed" of German and French travelers.

Also imagine if the #1 pick Ben Simmons takes a knee if Trump pisses off Australia too

And it's not even their National Anthrm

NBA has rules that require standing for the national anthem. I don't think NBA players want to get suspended for games. They can raise their fist or something like that as a symbol of protest probably.

    http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.ssf/2016/09/victor_oladipo_predicts_nba_pl.html

"The NBA's longstanding rule for team conduct states that players, coaches and trainers are to stand and line up in a dignified posture along the sidelines or on the foul line during the playing of the national anthem.

Citing its rule, former NBA commissioner David Stern suspended former LSU and star Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson) in 1996 for sitting down during the national anthem when he played for the Denver Nuggets. Abdul-Rauf suspension was lifted after one day when he agreed to stand during the anthem but pray silently in his hands.

If an entire team does it Silver isn't going to suspend the whole team.

Shut up. This is a basketball forum. We dont care what political ideology some 15th man on a roster believes in.

In all honesty, one of Melo, Wade, Bron, or CP3 probably. They've been vocal about the issue and did so at the ESPYs. Plus I think Wade's been affected personally.

Who is going to take a knee in the groin? I thought this was a Draymond Green thread?

Everyone Draymond is going to be the first to knee someone in the nuts this season, again

I forgot about the rule.. But that definitely takes it to the next level, if someone is willing to get suspended.

    I wonder if they'll just copy abdul-rauf?

Who asked you to care about their political ideology?

Hopefully stars go first. Would be super proud if a Rocket did it, but our guys don't seem to be the type.

Looks like the union and league have already reached out to players to discuss potential protests..

WNBA players haven't been fined for kneeling.

Thats not what i meant. Even tho it was perceived differently. Why do we have to make a big deal about someone kneeling. Just respect their opinion. Because they have their reasons.

probably no one, it surely will fade into yesterday by then. it's a silly fad, it will be forgotten in a month.

if it all started during the NBA season, i would've guessed some fading star in need of attention. Dwight?

To make sure if Silver suspends one player they have suspend them all.

Imagine if a team doesn't stand, Silver suspends the team and the Owner has to refund and cancel a game?

The owners would be furious at Silver.

The beauty of the NBA, unlike the NFL, it's super progressive. The NBA cancelled the all star game in NC because of the regressive and hateful laws recently passed there. I would be stunned if Silver did anything at all if a player sits, takes a knee, or whatever. Look, non violent protest that uses clean clear cut language should be encouraged, even if the message isn't something I agree with. I prefer this over sex scandals, wife beatings, and homophobic acts in the locker rooms any day. I think the NBA is smart enough to know that too, some posters here aren't.
