RAC is probably not coming back after next season when his contract ends. I think it will be good so Vrabel can use this time to really learn from RAC what it takes to be a DC if he is indeed his successor
Yay!!!! you guys don't know just how happy I am. Coach Vrabel is vital to this team's defensive development. He will be this team's future DC. He has the tools and the determination and the smarts to be a great defensive Coord. I am so excited he stayed in Houston. For him to turn down a DC job elsewhere and remained a Linebacker's coach is so awesome. I wonder what made him stay. But whatever it was, I'm just grateful to have Vrabel on OUR side. The development of guys like Whitney & future pro bowl McKinney will continue on with vrabel's guide.
I have a church gig in Katy. This last Sunday, they honored the Katy Tigers football team for their state championship. Their current coach used to be an assistant at Katy HS before he took over the head job. The old coach, who really built that program, talked about how the current coach was about to leave to take a HC job at another school in Katy but was talked out of it with the promise that he'd eventually take over the Katy HS gig. Sounds similar.
wonder if vrabel took the interview solely with the intention of forcing the texans to make him into DC in waiting
Not surprised..has a good gig here..probably wanted to know where he stood in the league and also gives him leverage here going forward.
