http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2106742 I would take this is a sign that SAR is intent on working out a deal or S&T to the Nets. Fair value on Haslem, but this may keep the Heat from bringing in the help they need. Evan
What is not clear is if this leaves Miami's MLE in tact, I didn't think you could do a five year $33M-$34M contract in the new CBA. I thought the limit for resigning RFAs (other than 1st round picks) was more like 5/29 or 6/37 (4.9 mil with 10% raises) unless you give up your MLE in the new CBA. But I have to believe this contract is just within the bounds of what Miami is allowed to do and keep their MLE, otherwise surely they would have talked Haslem into like 6/37mil with a player option, negligibly different.
This is great, finally the first FA PF signs. $6M per is cheap, averages 10/9, Swift is at 9/5 (back-up minutes), hmmm...
One less team, one less PF in the game. Is this a net positive gain for Rox pursuit? Should the Rox be happy with Raef and/or BGrant from lux cap cuts?
Haslem isn't one of the bigger names like SAR, Swift, Walker, but him taking a paycut to stay w/ Miami is a pretty good sign. I believed he turned down an extra 10M from Cleveland. But then again, Haslem is a Miami native who has played ball there his entire life.
