With the playoffs approaching, I'm sure that the traffic and bandwidth costs are going to go through the roof, especially if the Rockets made a long run through the playoffs. With that in mind, I think it's only appropriate for us to "give back" to Clutch and the crew, so that we can at least defray some of the costs of operating the best sports team BBS on the web. Here's some suggestions on how you can do it. 1. You can donate whatever you can right now to the Tip Jar. I'm sure Clutch would appreciate a cash infusion before the playoffs start because come this Saturday, the bill will go nuts. 2. Pledge money based on how the Rockets do. The longer the Rox last in the playoffs, the more excitement and enthusiasm will be on the board, the more expensive it will cost to maintain the traffic. So maybe pledge a dollar or two for each Rocket win. It makes sense in that the better the Rockets do in the playoffs, the more people would probably be willing to give in a donation. What's the second round mean to you? Conferance Finals? Finals? Or dare I say.... 3. Ads. If you can't afford to put in a tip, then support the site ads. It's a small bother, but if enough people do it, then that would be a big help in terms of expenses. Maybe you can pledge to support every day you are here. I'm sure that would make a big difference to the bottom line. Personally, I've just donated $15 and will pledge 1 dollar for every Rocket victory in the playoffs. It's worth that and more for the amount of entertainment this site has provided. And if the Rox can win a championship, I don't exaggerate in saying that I would have the time of my life on this board during that run. Tip Jar Link Again
Just to put things in perspective, a certain sports site charges an annual fee of ~$40/year to be part of their 'special' service. The Rockets AND NBA news that I get on this site is far superior. Sometimes identical. I just stuffed some more bread in the tip jar.
I'll pledge a buck for every game the Rockets play in the playoffs, win or lose. Five bucks for every game they play in the NBA finals.
I'll chip in $10 for every playoff series the Rox win, for good karma. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll get past the Mavs.
I'll pledge 2 bucks for every Rockets win in the playoffs, another 5 if we make it to the WCF, and another 10 if we make it to the NBA Finals.
room4rentsf and all his different personalities *pledges $1 for every Rox win in the playoffs and $2 for every Rox win in the FINALS! Go Rox! J *clutch can we sticky this page so we dont have to go looking around for it later?
I'll do the same... heck, I'll make it $3, except I'll pledge $10 when we make it to the WCF, and $25 when we make it to the Finals. If we win the Finals, I'll have to check my bank account. If I have the bread, you'll get another $50. And worth far more. BTW, I owe you $20 bucks, Clutch, for something I said I'd donate $20 dollars for, and forgot. I still don't remember what it was, but I'll send you the $20 now. I trust you still take a check! GO ROCKETS!!! Let's do another '86, baby!! (I save the '69 for the Old Lady)
I will match in dollar amount the highest point production by Yao in the opening round! Can't say the same for T-Mac lest I go broke.
I'm going to pledge $5 per Series W's. It's not much I know, but I'm a poor college student (going to school in Wisconsin no less) whose only Rockets source is cf.net A larger doantion is on its way, once I get my summer job rolling. But hopefully, I'll need to pay $20 come June
I will put my money in the tip jar in the mid May when I am in the U.S. Wish the Rocket do well in the play-off. Thanks for this board to follow the news about the Rocket. Hopefully, some of the games wil be broadcast here. So far I did not see any games all season.
Truly a five star thread here. I will pledge TMac's scoring average for the first series as a starter. Here's hoping I owe Clutch $35-$40 in a week or two...
I will pledge $1 for every playoff win up until I close on my house. After then, I won't be able to afford to give much, but I would be willing to host a cf.net poker tourney the second to last weekend in May (in the house I am moving out of ). We could go half to the winner and half to the tip jar.
I'll pledge $1 for every shot Yao blocks in the postseason up to $25. C'mon, big fella. Bring in the SWAT team.
