One of my domain registrations is expiring next month and I want to transfer it from register.com to godaddy.com Is that a good move? I originally started with register.com because it is "the name" in the industry. But many of my friends have used godaddy.com without any problems. The biggest selling point is that register.com costs $35/yr while godaddy.com is only $9/yr. Has anyone tried transferring to godaddy.com? Did you have any problems? Should I expect any downtime between the transfers? BTW, that godaddy.com girl is hot.
How can you NOT pick GODADDY? http://media.uselessjunk.org/images/stories/candice_michelle_1.jpg <- from NSFW - http://www.uselessjunk.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1314 - NSFW
Actually, we have tried lots of domain registrars and, by far, my favorite is NamesDirect.com. They are essentially the same price and just a lot easier to use than GoDaddy.com.
I just renewed mine on mydomain.com for $8.50/yr. Haven't had any problems in the 2+ years I've been using them.
They are the same company as NamesDirect.com. The only problem I have with GoDaddy.com is their interface. It is confusing and not that easy to use when you need to make changes.
Woo... professional advice. Godaddy.com has tons of ads, so navigating through their stuff is a bit hard. I'll check out the other sites you mentioned. Thanks!
I have used GoDaddy for about three years now without a hitch. They offer fantastic 24-hour customer service (without toll-free dialing though). I had used other registrars (BuyDomains.com and 000Domains.com) but eventually had everything transferred to GoDaddy. I just bought a domain name for a friend at GoDaddy this morning to celebrate his recent purchase of his first computer. We set up email forwarding and may eventually build him a little website.
You're a cool friend giddyup. I did that once for a friend fo mine, but that jackass just left his custom URL sitting there for two years until it expired. ingrate.
I just did the one-year thing in case this guy does the same thing. He's about 58 so he's not exactly diving into the vitual world, nevertheless I shook his hand and welcomed him to "virtual citizenry." We got his domain: HisFirstnameHisLastname.com. He was pretty happy.
