So, it's been about 3 months since I last saw one...let's start again!

You can only fill out so many applications (paper and online) before you go insane. As I have no experience except for "event staff", I just want a simple retail job, or something, anything.

"I filled out an application a few days ago, I turned it in to (insert manager's name). I was just wondering if you guys were reviewing applications"
    "Uh...well, we're...looking at them."
"Any idea on if there'll be any updates anytime soon?"
"We'll call when we've looked over all the applications"
    "....*sigh* ok"
*walks out knowing he'll never hear from them again*

And whoever invented that Unicru crap can f***ing go to hell.

    Anyone else want to rant?

I've just got a full time offer for next summer when I graduate. Does anyone know how binding they are?

i.e. can I have pure senioritis my last semester or should I look for back up job, apply to grad schools, and continue to do school work at an unhealthy level?

Personally I'm very excited about this job and would love to work there when I graduate. Just wondering how binding it is.

Miguel, aren't most retail places just hiring for the holidays? Might have to wait a bit.

Not at all binding. They can fire you whenever they want, why do you think they'd be required to give you a job they promised?

Yes, it is called employment at will, which gives you the right to quit whenever and them the right to terminate you.

Yeah I graduated last December, did good in school, have ok experience (did the internship thing, some freelance stuff), but I still can't get on anywhere. Seems I still don't have enough experience or the right connections or some other crap. Here's hoping '05 will be A LOT more promising than '04.

To apply at that Fry's you have to go to the one on I45 and apply there and get trained there.

I'm a college student coming home for the holidays. Should I just go up to any retail store and ask if they are hiring? I looked around and didn't see any job postings.

Also, I am leaving for about 10 days... will anyone hire someone who will be gone for 10 days?

You would go into a retail store and volunteer to work for them during the holidays?

How long have you been there? I live walking distance to Freeman. My wife and I go there often. Are you that skinny guy that works there?

My wife has 8 years high school teaching experience and applied for some library jobs a few months back. She never heard anything from the library positions she applied for (such as "children's assistant librarian" or whatever). What's your secret?

i've been there since early October. i'm the asian guy down in customer service. i work nights.

yeah, it took them about a month and half before calling me for an interview. it's a county job. they're very slow about that stuff. plus, you ahve to pass the typing test.

i interviewed with 3 of the older ladies of the library. different positions are interviewed by different people. when i asked them why they chose me, my supervisor said i was just relaxed, answered concisely, and had a sense of humor (i actually cracked a couple of jokes that i thought ruined it for me). after working there, i can tell she hires people who aren't too serious. but, we get the job done.
