Juwan has been like kryptonite to all the teams he's played on. He was suppose to compliment McGrady in Orlando! I'd rather have Mo Taylor smokin some na-na-na on the court than Juwan! Maybe we can trade with the spurs to get Horry back!
you need to watch a few NON-Rocket games before you make outrageous statements Horry is washed up and Howard is MUCH better than him - don't confuse an overrated, overpaid - but GOOD - player, with an UNDERrated, (now) jurneyman For the past 5 years Horry only showed up in the playoffs - then two years ago (LA vs. SA) he even stopped showing up then. Now can't get off the bench
I like Howard. He shoots something like 45 % averages 17 points and gets about 8 rebounds. Those are good numbers for a PF. He shoots about 80% from the FT as well. What don't you like about those numbers.
actually Howard has always been a consistant player in the league. he is a better rebounder that taylor and really a bit of a better defender but not by much. They only reason people didn't like howard was becuase he was making crazy amounts of money he didn't really deserve to get much like Cato got and we all flamed him. Howard is a great compliement to any team and with Taylor and Howard at the 4 we have instant offense, but we lack a bit off defense in both.
Howard is tougher, a better defender, and a rebounder than MoT. He's also played with McGrady and will bring that knowledge and chemistry to the team. Mo is too one dimensional. Let's not be so quick to move Howard - he'll be a real asset to our interior game. D R
I will love to see him play in the red and white. I think he can BUCK the bad trend here in H-town!!! BTW he has great numbers IMHO
I am glad to see I am not the only one on this board who actually follows other teams in the league - and doesn't just go for Rocket re-treads
I think J. Howard is better than Mo.T. His mid range game can help Yao a lot. People can't left him open. He is not good for a primary low post presence, but I think he will do very well as compliment to Yao.
I'm all for moving Howard if and only if it improves the team. BTW, Howard was pretty valuable when he played for another Texas team that made it to the second round of the play offs.
Howard better than Horry??? You got to be kidding me. Look at the Record of the teams Horry has been on lately and look at Howard. Lakers =3 championships Rockets = 2 championships Spurs = #3rd best record in the West Wizards =suckage Denver=suckage Orlando=suckage Horry will compliment Yao and Tracy with defense and three point shooting.
Howard could be very useful with Tmac and Yao drawing double teams. it will be good to have someone with a 10 foot jumper getting open looks. One nice thing i saw in his stats is he doesn't even bother trying for three pointers. Man, a lethal (at times) derek fisher or barry on the three point line would be fantastic.
by that logic - Medvadenko must be better than Yao PS - Horry has hit a 3 point shot since he launched that brick in the 2003 playoff (when he played for LA) but I guess you missed that game since you clearly haven't seen a non-Rocket game
We need a Bo Outlaw player or Horry. A great role player and a PROVEN role player. Not a proven loser. Throw this fish back in the ocean!
What you talking about Willis??? What about all the 3pointers that he made to save the Lakers and the Rockets. So he threw up some bricks as a Spur, thats because they didnt use him properly. At least his Defense was still there. He can block shots. Juwan Howard can't block Earl Boykins.
From ESPN: Juwan Howard: While McGrady is going to get his looks, Howard could very well be a statistical victim of Van Gundy's system. On an Orlando team starved for offense, Howard averaged 14.4 shots per game last season. That's two fewer shots than Francis averaged for the Rockets. Howard is going to shoot less for the Rockets, and considering he brings little else to the table from a fantasy perspective, that spells the end of his usefulness.http://games.espn.go.com/content/fba/2004/story?id=1831681
Sounds like you are talking about the Horry fellow who played for the Rockets 10 years ago, not the Horry of the last 2 years who not only is at best an average defender but who can't hit an outside shot to save his life.
Howard, tough? No. He's a character guy, but not a tough player. And *definitely* not an enforcer. Howard, chemistry with McGrady? Not really. McGrady was ticked the Magic were even going to sign him last offseason and they never meshed. Not enough shots for the two of them. Howard's an improvement over Taylor, but a marginal one at best. And don't expect to get a heck of a lot out of him in a trade, either, with 5 years left on his deal.
