This for the cricket lovers (Smeg, Bailey, etc.) who might know what I'm talking about....

http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/NEW/LIVE/...14APR2004.html

Just go to the link and see how much he scored...

I was listening to it on the radio... 400* is an amazing score!

Even more amazing was the fact that Andy Roberts was being highly critical of him for batting on so long, and ruining any chance that the Windies have of winning the game. England is 85-3 already, so they could still win, in my opinion.

isn't it ironic:

Before the match, former players including Colin Croft demanded Lara's resignation as captain after England clinched its first series win in the Caribbean in 36 years and closed on a first sweep by any visiting team in the Caribbean.

But Lara only did it against England...

I still think that Lara should be sacked as captain. He's obviously a great batsman, but a poor leader, even if he has lacked the players that previous West Indies teams have been blessed with.

400 after his teams have been crushed in a series by ENGLAND!

Give me a player that can score a century under pressure any day.

So you want Sachin? How about Dravid?

Go India! The tour of Pakistan is much more reveling than this.

Lara may be great, but Tendulkar is more consistent.

Since this is the thread with the cricket experts, what is a good site to learn the basics of cricket?

I would say that cricket is considerably easier to understand when you see it being played... a bald, word-for-word description would be tough to follow.

I've watched a little cricket (Australia vs. India), but it still left me confused. I mean, even the batting thing is confusing. If one guy hits the ball and they run back and forth between the two bases a whole bunch of times, but the initial hitter ends up back at the same base where he had just batted from, who hits next? That kind of stuff.

But it does baffle me that this sport is so hugely successful worldwide and it gets absolutely no coverage here in the US. I know it's not an "American" sport, but neither is soccer and it still gets some attention. There are so many people who migrated here from other countries that you would figure cricket would be a decent market to get into from a media and broadcasting standpoint.

PS - Why is Australia always so good? Is cricket the biggest sport over there? Smeg?
