I think they should have given him one more year, but definitely a justifiable move.

The Sporting News said don't be surprised if it's Nolan Richardson or Larry Eustachy.

I can't stand Nolan Richardson after his statements when he was let-go at Arkansas. But he would be a good hire for UH. I just can't stand the guy.

Cougar High has to hire a big name coach to fill up Hofheinz and get the program back to where it once was. The Ray McCallums of the world aren't going to get them there.

I think Rudy or Calvin could help keep local talent in town.
Imagine if Okafor, Lucas, Taylor, Klotz, McFarlin and Roberts went to UH.

Imagine if Alton Ford and George Williams would have stayed in school.

As an Arkansas basketball fan, I'll say that he would be a great hire for UH, he is a great basketball coach having won at every level. Now if you ask me what I personally think about him, its a completely different story after the way he went out.

Houston basketball coach reassigned
MICHAEL A. LUTZ
Associated Press
HOUSTON - University of Houston basketball coach Ray McCallum was reassigned to serve as an athletic department fund-raiser by athletic director Dave Maggard on Monday.
McCallum was the University of Houston's basketball coach for four seasons and finished with a 44-72 record.
"We had a lot of close ball games and we just didn't come out on top," McCallum said. "The next coach has got a good foundation. These guys have been taught. They've been prepared for victory. I think the next coach is going to have immediate success."
The Cougars (9-18, 3-13) have lost eight of their last nine games.

Don't worry folks. I'm starting grad school at the College of Architecture in the fall and I'm planning on walking on. I'm just what the Cougs need to build a program around: a 5'9", 180 pound white guy with some nice post moves and no 'J' to speak of.

We need some blue chips. The only way to get 'em is to bring a big name. I don't even care if they can coach or not. Anybody would do. Bill Walton, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Freddie Adu, whatever, they just need a name to drop. We have the shot block leader in the nation. Anybody. Please.

Uh, the ability and desire to coach is pretty damn important. Just hiring a name gets you temporary pub, and then it's back to the same.
See: Drexler, Clyde

Well, Clyde Drexler couldn't coach...why not bring him back?
