We need to also fire our towel boys. I still maintain that it was a little moisture on Cato's foot that caused his ankle to roll. I don't know how much of a role the trainer plays in all this, but I definitely think the players' conditioning is a factor. Overall footwork and timing will not prevent a freak accident like landing on someone's foot, but it will allow for adjustment/compensation to lessen the fall. Players like Stockton, Jordan, Malone, Payton, Finley, AC Green, Derek Harper, Mourning, even Bo Outlaw (who jumps on every play) have rarely had any significant injuries in their careers for a reason. I'm not saying that some players' bodies aren't simply more prone to injury, but it is no coincidence that out-of-shape players end up getting hurt more often. ------------------
I noticed the same thing. For some reason or another, Rocks seems like to have a high incidence of injuries. Cannot exactly pinpoint the reason why. Must really be the conditioning and training. It is just so frustrating to be progressing as a team then suddenly a major injury dampens the progress. Hope it's not going to be a repeat of last year. ------------------
Has anyone thought that the high number of injuries over the past few years could have something to do with the age of the players? Drexler, Elie, Olajuwon, Barkley - not exactly pre-schoolers. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Regardless of age...you pull hamstrings because you don't stretch and do the necessary exercises to get your body ready to play. ------------------ "That's two years, Two rings, and I'm thinkin' about going for another one...YEAH!!" --S. Cassel
As an irony, Jones came from the Astros to the Rockets. If my memory serves me right, both teams use Methodist Health System. Maybe Methodist is the problem. Regardless of the cause, both teams have had injury problems in the past few years. Rob ------------------ visit KTXT-FM @ www.ttu.edu/~ktxt/ 2000 Sportscaster of the Year @ KTXT-FM, Lubbock
And I am not just saying this due to the recent rash of ankle sprains. This team hasn't had a healthy season since Ray Melchiore [sic] left after the second championship. Coincedence? I think not. Keith "I'd rather look good and be a player "liaison"" Jones isn't getting these guys bodies ready to play night in and night out. Remember the rash of hamstring pulls a year or two ago? Remember stretching?? The signs all point to one man...and his time has come. Yeah! These guys should be able to hyperextend their knees back like a flamingo and come back the next game. Their arms should disconnect from their shoulders to block a shot if that's what it takes. What's wrong with our trainer? After all, Paul Pierce got stabbed 11 times and he still came ready to play. ------------------
That's a good point. Let's get Boston's trainer! ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
you see? now we're thinking here! Spooky: Ray Melchiorre (correct spelling) came from the Celtics!!! ------------------
