    Hey BBSers...

I am trying to convince Mrs. Ref that we need to go back to Disney World next December.

Do any of you guys know of any thing that has been built since 2001 or any that will be open by December 2004?

Also...does anybody know if there are any Lilo & Stitch inspired attractions? Do they have Lilio & Stitch characters walking around, perhaps at the Polynesian Resort?

    Thanks everybody. Here's hoping. :D

Was the Wilderness park built before 2001? If not that could be your reason to go back. I went there last summer. Pretty cool.

I know Mission Space is new. Just go to the http://www.disney.com site and look around.

Yes! Epcott Center has a new Space themed ride where you supposedly take the controls of a mission or something like that. I was there in Nov. of '03 and it was supposed to be ready by this month I believe. It's supposed to be Excellent.

Did they have Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in '01? That ride combines a thrill ride with the atmosphere of the Haunted Mansion with a remarkable attention to detail. IT's in the MGM studio park.

You may have already used the 'Unofficial Guide to Disney World.' But if not I highly suggest it. I followed the daily schedule and really avoided lines. My wife and I were able to really speed through the park with the only real lines coming when we went back to ride our favorite rides over again.

It was a great vacation for us, and I hope you are able to persuade the wife for the trip.

    Good luck!

Just so you know, Mission: Space might leave you feeling icky. I was just at Disney in August (3rd time in 2 years), and I felt bad for 2 hours after the ride. They don't call it the "Vomit Comet" for nothing. Cool concept, but I really felt like I was gonna lose it during the ride.

Mickey's Philharmagic recently opened at Magic Kingdom. It's a 3D movie starring the major Disney characters... in 3D animation. It is fantastic. We liked it so much, my wife and I went back for seconds immediately after the first viewing.

The only other thing I can think of that's new is the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. "Fantasy in the Sky" has been replaced by "Dreams" (or something like that). A little corny, but the fireworks are indeed better.

If you can, try to stay on site. They have rooms in the $80 a night range if you are on a tight budget. You can take buses (and/or monorails depending on the hotel) everywhere you need to go.

Mission: Space is open...my parents just got back with my sister and her husband and kids...they said it was amazing.

There are some Lilo and Stitch themes at the Polynesian...but they're also talking about incorporating Stitch more in TomorrowLand in the Magic Kingdom. Rumored there might even be a ride along the lines of the current Alien Encounter where Stitch kinda hosts.

The complaints about Eisner from the Disney family are borne out to be true...they're closing the parks much earlier than they used to, and that's a problem. Eisner needs to go...the focus should always be on the theme parks, and Eisner has taken his eye off the ball too many times, in that regard.

Won't happen by the time you're there, but there are rumors of an entire redesign of Epcot's FutureWorld...I mean, like a complete gutting of it, save the new Mission:Space ride...including rumors of a roller coaster inside Spaceship Earth.

There is a website called Deb's unofficial guide to DisneyWorld that is fantastic..they have a weekly email you can subscribe to, for freaks like my family. All kinds of rumored info and updates on new attractions. It's at www.allearsnet.com ... check it out.

oh, yeah...and do yourself a favor..particularly since you're a disney freak. get a florida drivers' license. you can use your houston address if you want on it...but you can buy an annual pass for about the same cost you'd buy a 5 day park hopper. well worth it if there's even a remote chance you'd make it back within 12 months.

I just got back from there on the way to the Keys for my first vacation in three years and let me say, I was quite pleased. The new space ride at EPCOT is worth the trip alone, but the wilderness park with the animals was nice as well. It was the second time for my kids at Disney World, but since they added all the new attractions, they loved it again. Don't forget there are other things to do nearby, like going to Cape Canaveral (I still get starry-eyed there and I'm in my thirties!). I would go back...now. The weather is perfect, crowds are light and you don't have to dwell in line for a coon's age.

If you really don't want to wait in line, especially during the busy seasons, bring along a handicapped person(i.e. grandma). They have a separate line for those...and best of all, her entire party gets to accompany her. Waiting time is roughly 10-20 minutes.:)
