I love his defense but his offense isn't going to bring this team scoring up no matter what it seems like. Why can't he implement a Kings' style offense and still play the same great defense...wouldn't that be awesome??? I guess you can't have it both way huh?? I guess that's what happend for playing great defense, they have to suffer on offense huh?? It seems like that's what it is no matter how you look at it. I mean you have Francis and Mobley and Yao and Jimmy on the floor and you can't produce enough score??? THis tells me JVG's offense simply suck!! It's old style half court offense which isn't getting you no where. He should implement cuts and backdoor and do all kinds of trick plays to the opponents like the Kings did. Imagine if the Rockets play a different style of offense that bring the score up and still maintain the great defense they have...man you can begin talking about Championship too...cuz this combination will be hard to stop.

There is no question Rockets offense suffer cuz of the JVG's style. I don't know if this is due to playing great defense or not, but whatever it is...JVG needs to be awaken because this style of offense is ancient and it ain't working no mo. Just ask Pat Riley and the Heat OR the Knicks for that matter..they stunk it up too!!!

If the Rockets miss the playoffs again, then JVG will probably be fired.

Yeah, I agree. This offense is pathetic. The defense is great but we have no clue on offense. This offense is killing Francis's game and I don't like it because he is the best player on the team, no matter how much people want Yao to touch the ball.

I'd like to see Yao in the high post more...he's just not efficient right now...lots of turnovers, lots of misses...I guess everyone else has the same disease. The onus is on the coach to think of something, the GM to get new blood, or the players to actually listen to the coach...I know JVG is preaching to them, but I often read here or in the paper that some players disagree with him.

Well the offense Steve excelled in was Rudy's offense, and he simply ignored Rudy's plays and shot the ball. If he actually listened to Rudy and excuted the plays properly he very well might have struggled.

While this team needs better offense, the Rockets also lack a spark. That spark -- Dennis Rodman.

And I'm only 60% joking. Come on, what can happen during a 10-day contract?

I've been saying this since the pre-season that JVG offense will not work in the west. Get used to East Coast Ugly Knick ball in Houston.

I'd like to see what this offense looks like with a Stockton-like point guard. I'm getting tired of seeing this garbage offense. Having someone at the point who knows how to pass very well is going to lift this team from the trash level it is at now.

How much money do think Les Alexander wants to lose? He's not rich because he's dumb. Canning Van Gundy is not the solution.

It just seems like Steve always makes the wrong decision. When he has a wide open layup, he forces a pass. When he draws multiple defenders, he forces a tough shot. When the ball gets swung to him and he is wide open, he pumpfakes, dribbles and takes a long two. We are not going to win many games when our marquis player makes the wrong decision half the time.

JVG seems so stubborn that we could lose this way for a whole season until he changes his mind about his offensive scheme. Even if we all stand around the toyota center and hold up signs saying "HEY JVG, REVITALIZE YOUR OFFENSE," I bet he wouldn't change a thing. I hope the stats hit him like a ton of bricks after tonight and he adapts to a better system, because tonight's game proves that he was out-strategized, even when his players are pumped up about playing their opponent.

He could punch Cynthia Cooper, Land an elbow on Bill Worell, give Amaechi a titty twister, and tackle JVG....

    just some of the possibilities

    This certainly is not true.

But if the Rockets miss the playoffs for an unfathomable 5th straight year...I gaurantee you mobley and Norris will not be on the team.

Eventually one has to realize its the personnel make-up of the team.

I truly hope its Steve and Moochie that are gone, not Cat.

Steve is probably laughing his ass off in his hotel room right now just thinking..."Man, this is the easiest 7 Year 85million dollar contract EVER!"
    17.5points 5.5 boards 5 assists 3 TOs. Sub 40% shooting.

This guy is a joke. I can't believe there are people that think he is worth this kind of money...streetballers have taken this game right into the crapper.

The excuse that people want to believe "oh he's not in 'his' game" :rolleyes"

BASKETBALL IS HIS GAME! My god. If he needs to be the focal point of the offense and play wild and unpredictable then what good his he? No team will ever win with him leading them...he doesn't shoot or pass well enough to merit that kind of team responsiblity. The only team he'll be the leader of is a lottery team, as he's shown in the past.

The loss tonight is not all Steve's blame, but the way he's played this year has certainly showed that he'll never be a winner in this league...he's mentally weak and has shown no physical or statistical improvement.

Right now I feel so deceived by this guy. What a scam he pulled on the Rockets.

I don't fault Steve for making money. Everyone takes what he can get in life. The inability for the front office to recognize a mistake is what gets me. It's not like Steve Francis is an Eddie Jones yet. He still gets his props in the league from guys who probably don't watch Rocket games on a regular basis. I bet Steve would really flourish in an offense which gives him free reign like in his 1st two years. I don't envision Steve ever having that freedom in Jeff Van Gundy's system. Systems don't mix with Steve. Steve doesn't like systems.

It does. They need to move to the triangle, stat.

That's the only way they're going to use Yao effectively. If he passes from the right high post, all the other players are more effective. Cat can iso on the left wing. Steve can cut backdoor for the reverse. JJ or Pike can feed the post and drift for the ball reversal, or run a curl off a screen with Yao. It's just so much more effective than our uglyball low left block.

    Horrrible.

8 points in the 1st quarter. The wierd part about it was that it didn't even look like the Rockets were out of their gameplan. The Rockets are setting franchise records for offensive futility on a daily basis.

Do y'all think the Rox players can execute Kings' style offense?
