The last installation of LOTR had a pre premiere showing in Germany yesterday with Peter Jackson and actors taking part of it,giving speaches etc.

I saw a clip of it on the tube today, and they showed Viggo Mortensen part of his speachto the Germans in attendance: "Thank you for not attacking Iraq. Peace"

Following the Dixie Chicks chicks incidence there was several saying that they would not buy their music (anymore). Some might never had, but said this as a principle that even had they liked their music, they would not give Dixie their money after this.

For those that strongly oppose what Mortensen said AND saw the first two installations of LOTR will you boycott the last installation?

And for those who'd boycott Dixie, but will still see this. Why?

Just to state my opinion on the matter. Mortensen could have said anything either way on any issue. I'm will see this on opening night (But then again I never let politics decide what I will watch/listen to for entertainment, so it is not like I'm changing my position).

because ALL germans agree...i mean, they're all germans...so they must ALL be of like mind...right? and i'm sure all the people in the crowd were decision-makers on action in iraq. i'm sure of it.

thank you, houstonians...thank you, for getting the space program going and sending a man to the moon. we just want you to know..we're all counting on you. you all did such a tremendous job with that.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the reason Viggo Mortensen was thankful the Germans didn't attack Iraq was because he had invested his LOTR money in Halliburton stock and knows that countries that didn't join the coalition of the willing will be shut out of lucrative contracts for rebuilding Iraq.

I wasn't going to see LOTR anyway, and this wouldn't have made any difference to me had I been wanting to see the movie.

Plus, I do think there is a difference between what Viggo said and what Natalie Maines said.

I can respect being against war and being respectful of a group that chose to avoid going to war. I can respect that as a moral position.

But I don't think it's on the same level as being embarrassed the President is from Texas. That's not a political view. That's a "I don't like the President as a person" view.

It's the difference between saying "Thank you for accurately portraying the life of the noble Amish farmer in 'Witness'" or something like that and saying "Natalie Maines is a fatass", which is nothing but a personal attack.
