How about Steve Francis for Tracy McGrady?

Trade: Steve Francis for Tracy McGrady

It has become apparent that Tracy McGrady has lost interest in playing for the Orlando Magic. McGrady's lack of interest is exemplified by his sloppy play and laziness (non explosiveness) on the court.

The only chance McGrady decides to stay in Orlando is if Grant Hill is healthy and can regain his all star form prior to his ankle injury. However, even if Hill is healthy, McGrady might have become so disenchanted by Orlando's organization ability to provided a supporting cast strong enough to contend in the weak East let alone against the West.

McGrady want to win championships, he loves the limelight and isn't content on being a big fish in a small pond. I think McGrady has figured out Orlando isn’t' going any where near that championship ring...

Tmac will have a chance to opt out of his contract after next season, which is a very high probability. The Orlando organization will have to make a decision soon to how they want to deal with Tmac. In the likely hood that Tmac has already told Orlando that he is going to opt out of his contract after next season, the Magic organization will be looking to trade McGrady for another super star in return so they aren't left empty handed (see Shaq's departure from Orlando to Lakers).

Here is where Rockets come to the scene.

Rockets have an extremely talented team and we are now starting to play discipline basketball. In concrete terms the Rockets will be a playoff contending team in the next 4 years and probably a championship contending team in 2 years. Although we are loaded with talent I still believe that we need an all star wing man. Tmac is just that player to fit our needs. He is a great passer, can hit the outside shot, and can defend against positions (4 through 1), because of his wingspan (7ft), height (6 ft 8), and quickness. This makes him one of the most versatile and coveted players in the NBA.

I think Rockets should make a move and try to work out a trade for McGrady. McGrady would love to play with a dominating big man and play on a team that he doesn't have to carry day in and day out on his shoulders or shall I say back. We will most likely have to lose Steve Francis and Mobley but I think the trade will work out to the Rockets favor in the end.

Orlando will also profit from the trade because they will receive Steve, an all-star point guard, in return. Steve might actually like the trade as well because he would certainly be first option and most likely best player on a mediocre team. As for Mobley, well he can return to his form as 2nd option. Perhaps in the East these two guys would actually make the playoffs.

tmac needs the ability to put up shots whenever he wants and score, and with the rockets hes not going to have that chance. simple enough

T-Mac has already said he wants to stay in Orlando, saying: "he wants to win his championship here in Orlando."

Why would we trade our star player if we are 2 years away from being championship contenders?

After the last game I might be inclined to keep Francis.

Interesting thought. I guess we'll just have to wait until he does opt out to find out. If that happens, though, don't you think the lakers would be first in line offering Kobe? How about a big man, like Jermaine O'Neal? Perhaps Tmac would prefer to line up with Duncan. He could possibly do that without a sign and trade? Francis is nice and all, but he's always going to be a tweener. In a complete rebuild, wouldn't Orlando want youth, size and picks?

Fine to speculate though. TMAC is a top tier guy. Duncan, Shaq, Garnett, TMac, Kobe, these are talent and media money superstars. Then maybe other franchise level talents like Nowitzki, Yao?($?) Lebron? Melo? come first. Then you've got your good players like Webber and Franchise, Carter, etc, that don't win big. Seems like a tough sell in Orlando, with no big man.

Actually, if you ever watch Tmac he likes to pass the ball and try to get other players on his team involved first. The problem is that the players around him just plain stink. Pat Garrity is okay cause he can hit the open shot but no other player on the team is consistent enough.

As for Tracy McGrady's content on being an Orlando Magic, I’m not so sure about that. McGrady has made comments about how he is the only player on the Magic and how he does everything for the team. This is not a man who is happy loosing in the first round of the playoffs every year.

As for McGrady figuring it out fast...well that remains to be seen. Armstrong, their point guard for the past few years, is gone now and Tyrone Lue is a decent backup point guard but doesn't know how to run the show like Armstrong did. Armstrong was not only the point guard but he was the catalyst for the Orlando team having won 6th man of the year award one year and being a nominee other years. Armstrong should be recognized for the energy and toughness that Orlando had displayed the past few years.

After having watched McGrady laugh all the way through a blowout against the Wolves in which he was scoreless in the first half, I would like to say: Just say no to T-Mac.

I think he is playing against his coach.

Not Stevie, but Cat and Cato? That's work. Come to daddy Houston, TMac...this is a happy place, the happiest place on Earth.

Yeah, that's work alright. That would be some work trying to hypnotize the Magic into giving up their Franchise for two role players....

    Cat and Cato for McGrady?

Have them throw in Disney World and Justin Timberlake's guest house to while you're at it.

I love this trade proposal because I've dreamed of Moochie Norris becoming our starting point guard for years.

Sure, let's trade out best player for a guy who whines about zone defenses.

What if he loses interest again? What if he doesn't like playing with Yao and being the #2 guy? I also don't like how he throws up way too many outside jumpers. Go to the basket.

T-mac is his own hero, he won't want to play anywhere where he isnt the star of the show. I'm sure he wants to win a championship, but I don't know that his ego could cope playing on a team where he wasnt the centre piece.

I dont know why people keep talking of trading Francis, if you ask me I think he is our best player. I'm not saying we shouldn't ever consider trading anyone, some players deserve it, but where is everyone's support and loyalty???

You guys are serious? Tracy McGrady is one of the top five players in the world.

Orlando is not going to trade him for less than Tim Duncan, and that won't happen, either.

Why are you getting waxed over toungue-in-cheek references to a bad couple of games on a sad team?

ah yes...what would a day after the game day be without the obligatory "Trade insert Rockets player name here for insert opposing teams best player's name here" threads?

as certain as death and taxes...
