My knee's been hurting while I jumping and I got it checked out by the cool sports doctors in Houston. Actually felt weird in the waiting room with HS athletes in wheelchairs and crutches while I could walk perfectly. Anyways, the doctor said that I had patella tendinitis, or jumper's knee. I almost though I had OSD, but the doctor said that the two are kind of similar but mine is higher up than the other. Just got to do some stretching and take some inflammatory stuff.

I was just curious if anybody else had experienced, especially during a time of heavy sports activity. I'm in athletics, so I can't really stay out of sports. The doctor did say it was fine to play and stuff, as long as I iced my knee and tried a brace, but I'm just curious how things work out with it all.

well i've had OSD for four years now so I can't really tell you how to stop knee pain, but from my experience as well as others i know, with these type of problems, screw your doctor and rest. My doc told me I could stay on the team, take the pain, ice, and advil and I would soon be fine. Then he tells me that rest is the best medicine two years later, and that i should have rested, and my knee's have been overworked and now it won't stop until i stop growing. I went to a ton of docs, even one that says he used to treat all the rockets players (kenny smiths bumpy knees were his primary targets) but he didnt do anything either. So just rest, thats my advice.

I had it when I used to play....try one of the Cho-pat knee straps (you know, the rubber-band looking things Glen Rice wears)

look up peterson step-ups on google. Do those and some leg curls and bulgarian split squats with dumbbells. You need to develop your VMO. Use google to find out about all of that.

I just got a stretchy knee brace thing for right now. An ACE brace thing. The doctor just told me to do like Mike and fold it so that I get more support in the patella area. I WILL NEVER DO THAT SINCE I DON'T LIKE MIKE.

I think I saw one of those straps online. I'll try out the one I got and if it doesn't really seem to help, I'll try to see if we can try something else.

The trainer guy at the place told me some things with stepping up on a box as well as some other things. But I'll look into that as well. Thanks.

BTW, this was at the Sports Clinic at Texas Methodist Hospital, IIRC. I went there since my coach had told me so much about Dr. Lowe.(though I didn't get to see him.) I felt all special since I got a trainer guy to instruct me and my X-rays were all being viewed. Houston is radical!
:D

Hmm...I guess I'm cured. I played some basketball today, after stretching and wearing my brace thing, and for the most part I felt fine. I was a little rusty since I haven't really jumped in a while, but it seems like I'm cured.

It's a miracle! :D
