    Rasheed?

hey, that would be great, but alot of money. But what are yalls thoughts, i mean can we give up 2 players that match his contract and afford rasheed. and if we can, who can they be.

What would be the pro's and con's?

interestingly enough, rasheed is both a pro and a con.

On the court Raheed is the player the Rockets need...he is a combination of Eddie and Mo Taylor, but with inside presecence. Even though he will be suspended for probably 10 games...that is still better than having Mo and Eddie platooning like if they were BLUM and ENSBERG...LOL

With the new coach, new image, new stadium...i doubt he will come to the team. Because he can just blow up and bring the team down with him.

But the idea of having Yao, Francis and Wallace starting...sounds very good.

If Rasheed can mature... that sounds like another BIG 3 in the making...just this time YOUNGER!!

espn.com: The Portland Trail Blazers have been talking about trading Rasheed Wallace and Ruben Patterson to the New Jersey Nets for Dikembe Mutombo and Kenyon Martin, according to a newspaper report.

"There have been some discussions, but there is not a trade on the table at this moment," coach Maurice Cheeks told The Oregonian.

The Blazers apparently are hesitant to make the trade because Portland general manager John Nash does not want to inherit Mutombo's salary, which is $17.9 million this season and $19.7 million next season.

Wallace is in the final year of a contract which will pay him $17 million.

Meanwhile, Martin has broken off contract talks with the Nets and has asked for a trade, reports ESPN.com's David Aldridge.

Martin, who has one year remaining on his Nets contract, reportedly was seeking a six-year extension worth approximately $87 million, but Aldridge reports the Nets have offered him roughly $66 million.

Martin is not eligible for a new contract until July 2004. He is scheduled to make $5.1 million this season.

"I don't have any comment on any discussions that I have with (Nets president) Rod Thorn," Brian Dyke, Martin's agent, said in a telephone call.

Martin, the No. 1 pick in the 2000 draft, is scheduled to be paid $5.1 million in the final year of his contract.

"Kenyon loves New Jersey, the Nets fans, his teammates and the staff," Dyke said. "This should be fairly obvious by his actions and his charitable works in the community. He has been a valuable part of the Nets' success and wants to feel secure about his future." Read Article

Wallace made approx. 16.2 million last year. He is in the final year of his contract. He is 6'11", 230 lbs and 29 yrs old.

Patterson made approx. 5.0 million last year. His has 4 years left on his contract. He is 6'5", 224 lbs and 28 yrs old.

Portland wants to move both players as part of the effort to remake the character of the team.

However, they are reluctant to take on an albatross contract when Rasheed's off the books at the end of the season.

They would like another expiring contract with good character, along with some young talent at center or pg. They don't need a sg, sf or starting 4.

They are probably trying to force teams to take Patterson as part of the price to get Rasheed. Patterson scores 10 pts on 50% shooting in 20 min/game, and has a reputation to play defense.

Rox don't need Patterson with Cuttino and A.Grif. Cut him out of it.

We could send Rice (9.2 mil,) with Cato (6.7) and Boki (1.22) for Rasheed. It works Realgm.

Aside ( can we trade released players - like the Maloney obligation, with us paying in cash?)

If it went down like that :

    Yao/ Wallace
    Wallace/Taylor/EG
    A. Grif/EG/Pike
    Cat/Pike
    Francis/Moochie

You'd have 1 year to find out with Wallace.

Portland will prob want Griff and play him as a backup 4. They would be reciving young potental for high priced troubled talent. If they are truley shoping him the Rox betta' be in some serious talks with them. I'd give up anyone except for Yao, Steve, and try to hold on to Cat.

Would any of you give up Cato, Griff, Rice, and draft pick for Davis and Wallace; would Portland be interested?

    Cato, Taylor, and Rice for
Wallace and Patterson is a deal that would work according to the numbers but would leave the Rockets with a hole at the backup center spot.
It would, however, provide us with an imposing starting lineup that would rival almost any in the league.

    5. Yao Ming: top 5 center
    4. Rasheed Wallace: top 5 power forward
    3. Ruben Patterson: defensive presence w/ 10ppg
    2. Cuttino Mobley: young athletic top 15 sg
    1. Steve Francis: young dynamic top 5 pg

i would take that line up any day. Man..i hope CD and JVG know about the situation, and hopfully at least think about it. I mean, we gave up players for Barkley member. Tomjonovich was a gambling man: we still can take the gamble, couldnt we?

    C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes

For Rasheed Wallace? Or maybe even Damon S.

Even if we traded for R. Wallace, we would be "Posied" in one year because we couldn't afford to keep him and sign Yao Ming et al down the road.

why are we all overlooking the one guy that canhelp us most here??????

we don't really need sheed right now. what we do need is starting caliber SF. and i think it should be ruben patteson.

we shoud make this a 3-way trade, where we send the nets rice for patterson and a cap filler.

If the Rockets didn't want a 6-8 Posey for $4.9M, why would we want a 6-5 thug for $5M? Let Portland suffer with these guys.
